Trade Idea w/Denver

Post#1 » by Piston Pete » Thu Feb 14, 2013 4:10 am

WE GET:
SF Wilson Chandler
C Timofey Mozgov
PF Anthony Randolph
SG Evan Fournier

We take on a lot of future cap space from Denver, who is going to be battling the luxury tax threshold. I think these four guys give us great, young depth moving forward. Chandler becomes our starting SF, Movgov backs up Drummond, Randolph backs up Monroe at PF, and Fournier hopefully develops into our long-term SG of the future.

THEY GET:
SF Corey Maggette
PF/C Jason Maxiell
SG Kim English
Clipper's 2nd rounder

They get a ton of cap relief, along with guys that will help them remain competitive this season. Maggette fills Chandler's current role. Maxiell gets backup time at PF and C there, and English fills Fournier's current role as the young, end of the bench SG. The main focus of this trade for them is cutting long-term salary to stay below the luxury tax without losing any of their major contributors and helps free up money to re-sign Iggy.

For Denver, if this trade means having enough wiggle room in regards to the luxury tax threshold to keep Iggy long-term, is it worth it?

So would they rather make this kind of trade, or possibly lose Iggy to free agency for nothing in return?

I think your premise is solid and your explanation is good Piston Pete, I don't think this trade idea is good tho too many unnecessary pieces. Something simpler would work better.

Ty Lawson extension will kick next season, that means so far they have 11 players under contract and 68 million in salaries, they do not have enough to offer the MLE without go into LT and given their depth, Chandler is expendable and Mozgov is being shopped because there is no way they bring him back.

How about Chandler/Mozgov for Max/Bynum/English

Little bit simpler

Denver has no use for Bynum, they have Ty Lawson and Andre Miller.

English add no value so he is 100% dead weight in this trade.

Denver need shooters. Maxiell would be better than Mozgov for then but they also need a good shooter in that deal, Daye would fit there but he is gone.

Why not give a little more to them to take on Randolph/Fournier?

And I don't see them having any interest in Bynum with Lawson and Miller already there. If they were to get Maggette instead, he would actually fill a role on their team - whereas Bynum would be their 3rd PG and likely not play much, if at all.

I'd do Stuckey for Chandler. Jerebko & English for Chandler or an expiring contract (Max) & Two 2013 2nd round picks for Chandler & 2013 1st rounder.

Chandler and a protected pick for Singler and Maxiell

Honestly I'd rather have Singler at 1 million then Chandler at 6 million. Singler and 5 million in cap space has more value.

Not a chance that Denver would even consider Chandler alone for all that. Bad trade for Denver. I hope Nuggets trolls don't come here and see this.

Yeah bad deals for Denver. I think they'd want to keep Chandler. Also, the asking price for Mozgov was a first rounder. Dealing him for expirings makes no sense.
