Jordan said he would take Kobe over Lebron. Is he on crack? Kobe is 34 and on the decline and Lebron is 28 and on top of the world. That is exactly why the Bobcats are chronic basement dwellers. Jordan has NO idea how to assess talent!

I read the entire article and I still disagree with his assessment. Kobe always had a phenomenal coach and spent many years with the most dominating center in the league. If Jordan is choosing a player simply because of the rings he has acquired, then Robert Horry should top his list.

Lebron James is by far the greatest and most dominating player I have seen. He has never had a good coach, except for maybe Mike Brown, and nearly carried CLE to a championship with no other real talent on the team but a young Anderson Varejao and aging Zydrunas Ilgauskus.

Kobe is a great player but I don't know how anyone would choose him over Lebron and that includes during their prime!

A few years ago, I would probably say Kobe. But, Lebron can play the 1st 4 positions effectively from PG to PF. He can Score, Pass like Nash, Rebound and plays great defense. Lebron has already surpassed Kobe as a player in my mind and he still has many years still left in him. Lebron can take any team in the NBA and make them successful. Kobe can take any team in the league and lead the league in scoring. Two different types of players. I like Kobe's competitiveness more than Lebrons though. He is fierce. You like to have guys like that on your team.

Can't go wrong with either guy. It doesn't surprise me that MJ would prefer Kobe, given Kobe has that similar insane drive to win

The Robert Horry comment is really ignorant.....

Kobe was the Best player on his team for multiple rings after he surpassed Shaq as the team's "go-to" player. Horry was a role player for his championships, so why exactly are you bringing him up?

Kobe and LeBron Prime vs. Prime are very close in terms of ability and the effect they had on their teams, so MJ's way of picking one is based on rings. It was pretty simple to understand.

I cant compare Mariano Rivera to Roger Clemens. I always laughed at the Michael/Magic comparisons too.

I will say in my 32 years on earth ive seen 3 guys in the type of rhythm that makes you drop your jaw & think they are super human. Michael, Kobe, Lebron.

Well said. Essentially, it comes down to what LeBron does now. He has the team to become a dynasty and win several more rings. LeBron at this point has now surpassed any version of Kobe, and it is really hard to admit that for me as a huge Kobe fan.

Kobe has Lebron on clutch play. Lebron needed Wade--Kobe didn't.

As Kobe has gotten older, he has more and more settled for the jumper instead of expending the energy and taking the punishment of going to the hole. Maybe Lebron is driving less, too? Still, Lebron's size should allow him to maintain dominance longer than Kobe.

Both are crap people; I don't like either of them really. But prime for prime, I would take Kobe.

I think Lebron needs to sustain this level of dominance for a while longer before he can surpass Kobe in history but I think he will get there. I also get & agree with your point that Lebron the player today is probably better than Kobe the player on any 1 day in his career because of the insane amount of things Lebron can do.
