Any chance we go for him? He plays best at point, working off the dribble and driving or kicking it to shooters. We have Brando and Singler starting who are both solid shooters, and we could always go after a redick type...

Could we sign him long term to replace Calderon?

I see him more as a 2/3 than a PG. But he's one of the players I'm most interested in signing in FA. I think his versatility, talent, and youth allows you to just sign him, (as long as its a fair deal) and then figure out where to use him later. Because you really could start him at PG, SG, or SF, or bring him off the bench at any of those spots. So when a player can play 6 roles, if you can get him for 6-7 mil/yr, I say just sign him and sort it out later.

If we do resign Calderon though, "longterm replacement at PG" would be looking 5-6 yrs into the future, assuming Jose gets a 4-5 yr deal. Thats just way too long away to start planning and/or signing guys now just to be a guys replacement 5-6 yrs from now. Most obvious reason is because whatever contract Evans signed would be up by then. But given his versatility he gives you options galore. It would be great signing at the right price, imo

I agree he's a "create your own shot" type of 2/3. He doesn't have to not have the ball just because he's playing 2 or 3. Look at Kobe, Wade, LeBron, Pierce, etc Its easy to put the ball in the hands of a 2 or 3 and let him create his own shot - if he's good at it and makes good decisions. It would allow us to have 2 dimensions to our offense. One with Jose running the show, and then another letting Evans go iso and create his own. Its good to be able to do both, and I think Evans would give us that added dimension.

The reason we aren't doing that with Knight is because he's not that great with the ball in his hands.

Agreed, i still don't think we should resign Calderon, I would rather have Jarrett Jack, but I think we should go after Tyreke.

Not much interest in Tyreke. He'd be an upgrade over Stuckey but we'd be stuck with another combo guard that doesn't really excel at either position.

Plus his play has regressed every year since he was ROY. Sure he's playing better this year, but it's a contract year. Where is the consistent level of play. What makes you think he'll keep playing at this level after he gets paid?

I think Mayo and Iggy are better options, although I am not that excited about those guys either. It's scary to think we are going to pay big $$ to any of the guards available in FA (CP3 being the obvious exception).

It'd be a nice fit if be actually had a jumpshot.

But then again, if he had a jumpshot then he'd be the face of the Kings franchise.

I'd be interested if he were a better fit. I like the idea of going after a 23 yr old with talent and versatility, but we need shooters and guys who will move the ball on offense.

As for Calderon, I'm all for keeping him. But I hope we are only playing Bynum at backup PG because we want to move him by the deadline. That way Knight can get the backup minutes and eventually transition back to our starting PG with Jose taking a bench role.

Evans has a very similar game to Stuck and people have wanted Stuck gone for years and now want Evans, I don't get it.

Sure he's young, but I don't see him as a fit in this team.

Just because players have similar games doesn't mean they are the same person or same player.

One huge difference in their games though is the ability to finish. Stuckey is one of the worst finishers in the league. Evans is a great finisher. Thats a major difference. If Stuckey could finish consistently, he'd be a great fit on our team. He'd basically be a 6-5 beast version of Bynum.

I see Evans being able to give us the same ability Bynum gives us, but in a much bigger frame. With Bynum likely not being brought back, we are going to miss not having a player like that who can create his own shot. We have plenty of shooters now. But eventually theres times when none of them can make a shot, so it looks like we have no shooters. We do, they just go cold sometimes like all teams. Thats when you need that guard who can create off the dribble, get to the basket and finish. Essentially what Bynum does for us when our shooters go cold. Evans can do that too, but has potential to do it at a much more elite level.

I see Evans more as a suped up Bynum that can play all 3 perimeter position, rather than a Stuckey clone.

Much like Bynum/Drummond make a great duo, I think Drummond and Evans could make one of the best, if not the best big man/guard combo in the league.

Im not sure I want Evans. All reports are he isn't a good teammate. I really don't want his act here. If Cousins didn't take all the headlines, we'd hear more about Evans. Any reasonable deal Sacaremento will match so I don't see the point of talking about Evans. I have zero interest in any thing close to max for a guy who has regressed since being drafted.

Tyreke's another of those no jumpshot guards; no thanks.
