CV will exercise player option for next year...

Surprise to no one, and I don't blame the guy - but isn't that complete admission that you are not worth what you're going to be paid? Because if he felt he was ever worth near that money he'd opt out and look for a longer term deal even if he took a slight hit in next years total.

I think he's been playing pretty good this year. While he's not a 8.5 million player, I do like him on this team. I would have like to have extended him with a deal like 3yr/15million and saved 3.5 million next year.

Of course he is going to exercise this option. Not only has he never lived up to the money in his current contract, but under the new CBA a player like CV will never see that kind of money again. This is even more certain as the whole league knows that he's essentially "stolen" money from the Pistons. Charlie got his big pay day and he was done with the heavy effort.
