If Monroe/Drummond don't workout...

Lets say that Drummond and Monroe don't work out, how about a trade with Philly? Monroe and Knight for Hawes and Holiday. I ran this idea in the Philly forum and they all seemed to like it. I think Joe should pursue this deal IF and only if the Monroe/Drummond front court doesn't pan out the way it should.

Maybe after this move we can make a move for Josh Smith and we would have our own big three with Holiday, Smith, and Dre.

Holiday/Calderon
Stuckey/English
Singler/Middleton
Smith/CV
Drummond/Hawes/Kravstov

Add in our 1st round pick and other signees to round out our roster and we would be contenders. Espicially towards the trade deadline to shop around CVs and Stuckeys expiring contracts to net us a good wing player.

Yeah...wtf. And not even for another great bigman, but for a PG?

Two great bigmen playing inside out is the way to go.

This is a good idea, it'll be cool if they throw in Arnett Moultrie as well. I am a big fan of the Josh Smith/Andre Drummond frontcourt, Hawes would be a good jump shooting big man off the bench. Jrue Holiday will be better than Knight; I would be static if we were able to make this trade. Afterwards, I'd sign Corey Brewer to round off my rotation, and then draft the best SG or SF available (Shabazz, Bennett, Oladipo,Porter, etc)

Holiday/Calderon/Bynum
Brewer/English/Middleton
1st round pick/Singleton
Smith/Villanueva/Moultrie
Drummond/Hawes/2nd round pick

This is a great going team going forward, everyone on the first unit (except for the 1st round pick depending on who it is) can defend.

I'm just speaking hypothetically if Monroe and Drummond don't work out this might be the best possible option for the pistons to take. Jrue Holiday brings us a young all star point guard who can be lethal pairing with Drummond and possibly smith.

I really like the prospects of a Drummond/Smith front-court. Don't like giving Smith max money but he'll still be a the tail end of his prime during the last year of his contract and I like paying Monroe a max contract as a 4 even less.

You put together an athletic defensive front court like that and it leaves tons of possibilities to fix the wings between trading Monroe and the lottery pick. For example a Knight/Eric Gordon/Porter/Smith/Drummond lineup could be one of the best defensive teams in the NBA immediately. That team would have enough defensive upside to contain the top offenses in the NBA.

I'd rather get Moultrie, Evan Turner (fills a need), Hawes, and a draft pick for Monroe and DNP- CV.

we cant trade Moose for a handful of role players. if we move him, we have to at least get a borderline or potential All Star back imo. preferably a PF or go to scorer on the wing.

I think Evan Turner could be a good scoring guard at the 2. I think if he puts it together he could be a T-Mac potential guy.

today is a point guard driven league, if the pistons were to trade monroe why would we trade for a wing when we dont have a PG for the future? jrue holiday is a 22 yr old all star PG who averages 19 and 8. ill take that over the under performing turner all day

Turners a solid player, but he's never going to come close to prime T Mac level. I think hes about at his peak right now. he's 24, he was a 3 year college guy and this is his 3rd NBA season, he's probably got a little room to grow but not a whole lot.

I wouldn't mind having him, but I think we could do a lot better if we decided to trade Moose. plus we'd be in the same boat with Turner as we are Moose as far as their contracts. Turners a FA next season as well, and he's probably going to want Demar Derozan money.

T-Mac as of right now I'm assuming? Definitely not Orlando T-Mac.

I'd like to actually see Monroe and Drummond play together before pitching Monroe. Although I'd probably shrink my balls to get Holiday in Detroit. It's amazing that we actually could have had him.
