Josh Selby?

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Sun Mar 3, 2013 7:57 pm

Ok, I know this happens with almost every single young prospect that's bought out, but this guy might actually fit. We only have 1 PG signed through next season. Why not take a flyer on Selby and see what he can do for the rest of the year. Who knows, he could be that backup PG that we need.

Worth a try. He was lighting it up in the summer league (lol).

He was a top prospect in high school. Not sure what happened to him..

I liked Selby coming out of Kansas, but I think he might be more of a SG.

He could be a good combo guard of the bench though, that can backup both 1 and 2.

Didn't he have some kind of attitude issues or something though that caused him to go so late in the draft? I forget what his story was

He's a scoring PG like Bynum. You have to wonder why teams haven't given him a chance...

i wouldn't mind signing him for the rest of the season to see what he can bring. He was touted as one of the best athlete's during his draft year, there's a reason memphis traded him and why he's bought out.

I've seen JS quite a bit in conference play.... Missouri was in a recruiting battle for this kid (I believe from Maryland)... He was suspended for monetary violations.
Excellent athlete but he's not a good decision maker... tends to force bad shots... lacking peripheral vision.

I think I would much rather have him for the next 2-3 seasons at 1 mil per than Bynum at 4 mil per

Ugh. He's just another SG who has to play point cause he's too damn short. Those guys are a dime a dozen and they very rarely play a meaningful role on championship teams.

Steve Francis, Baron Davis, Stephon Marbury, Allen Iverson, Gilbert Arenas...

In recent history, there's been quite a few of those guys who were supremely talented and enjoyed a lot of personal success. Not surprisingly, however, not one of them ever won a ring.

I wish the Pistons wouldn't sign any more shoot-first players that are 6'3" or 6'4" and shorter.

Lol I'd take any of those guys in their prime...BTW Bdiddy was a passing guard.

Like I said, they were all extremely talented. But I don't think it's any coincidence whatsoever that none of them won anything. If you're looking to make the playoffs and have a flashy team, they're the way to go. If you want championships, you're gonna need the guy running the offense to distribute.

Baron Davis had one year where he averaged an assist-to-turnover ratio of three. It was usually around 2.5. His assist totals weren't bad but he wasn't an efficient passer.

There isn't any room for the kid. I think he has potential but you have to wonder if two teams gave up on him. He probably would benefit from extended D-League time. I'd personally rather give minutes to Knight and English at the guard spots over Selby. I agree that the undersized 2 is a perfect fit.
