http://www.freep.com/article/20130320/S ... Pistons%29"Look, we're paid to play," Frank said. "On the road trip, (for us to) give up 112 points per game and for teams to shoot 55%, for us to take only two charges and not be able to do anything in the paint -- those are the type of things that are disappointing to you. I said it to these guys that from a big-picture standpoint, the thing that I think we have to restore is pride in being a Piston.
Although I don't care for his in-game head coaching, I think he gets the big-picture stuff right most of the time. I agree with him here. We need to get back to playing Detroit Pistons basketball with tough-minded two-way players. We need to restore what it means to be a Detroit Piston.
Unfortunately, that won't happen this year. But that will be key in us having a successful offseason. Dumars and Frank (if he's not fired) need to get on the same page and get guys who fit the characteristics of players who have "Pistons DNA."
I worry that Dumars has forgotten that defense is also a part of the game. His past four (4) non-draft acquisitions have all been 1-dimensional offense only players:
BG - signed as FA
CV - signed as FA
Maggette - traded for
Calderon - traded for

Let not forget that Monroe is terrible defensively at the center position. He doesn't protect the rim. The Pistons get attacked more in the paint than when Rihanna has her boyfriend over for the night. I agree Monroe has to move to the pf spot but I'm not sure he can play there defensively. I'd like to him there now with Slava starting at the center spot. I'm not sure what starting Maxiell at the four does for us long term?

Yeah, we have too many soft players here...I like Monroe, but he needs to start making contact when players come in the paint...You guys hate on Maxiell, but at least he plays with some kind of toughness...
I would say offer Andrew Bynum a huge contract and let Drummond play 6th man(Dennis Rodman role)...Bynum plays good defense and isn't scared to put somebody on the ground...But Bynum's injury's scare me and he may not have the love for basketball in his heart...Millsap may be good signing if he's willing to play a 6th man role...

We need to sign a starter SG/SF that's going to give us good defensive minutes, guys like chandler, green, even gallo. i think we need to combine that with signings of guys like Matt Barnes, Tony allen, and other hard nosed players that bring a little defensive attitude to this team.

Sounds like a coach whining after his team has given up on him.
