Offseason Shakeup

Post#1 » by Stones48223 » Sun Mar 31, 2013 1:50 am

The Pistons are stale and need a new infusion of talent.

First I fire Frank and Hire Lionel Hollins or Mo Cheeks, or a Van Gundy brother.

Second I have to move Monroe for 2 reasons. It's easy to be the best player on a bad team, and move him before he wants a max contract, while his value is high.
I say we call up Okc and offer Moose and Jerebko for Ibaka and Pj3.
Or
Call up Boston and Offer Moose, Stuckey,Knight for Bass,Rondo,Bradley+pick.

Next Up sign JR Smith to a better offer than the Knicks can offer. Sign Toney Allen. Let Calderon walk.

Draft-if we get the trade from Okc ,I'm drafting Burke, If we get the Boston Trade, I'm taking Mclemore or Noel.

I've been a longtime lurker on this board, finally signed up.
I know there will be backlash from my ideas, but it kills me to see the Pistons this wack.

I think Ibaka and Drummond would cause havoc, Or Rondo/Burke and Drummond would be a great start to rebuild.

I just can't see paying Moose the Max. So I'd move him while he has value. I value ibaka higher than Cousins

I'm getting tired of these the "Move Moose" movement. Bunch of impatience. He's started one game with Drummond, found him on a couple easy dunks and you all of proclaimed it will not work. Instead of building around our core, you want to tear it down and rebuild it with brand new players. This isn't NBA 2K. Nobody does that. We are not coming back next season with a brand new starting 5.

I am in agreement with that, If we do move him it needs to be for a bigman of equal or greater talent.

I'm in favor of moving moose simply because I think it's the fastest way for us to return to relevance. If we can sign a PF in the offseason who's at least as good as Monroe or is better than Monroe (say Josh Smith, or Al Jefferson) and then make a package build around Monroe and trade for a really good SG/SF (I'm talking a player better than Mayo or Iggy), we'll be speeding up our rebuild. That isn't to say it's guaranteed to work, but there's no guarantee that Monroe will ever be any better than he is now.

the frontcourt should be our least concern for NOW

look at the backcourt WHAT A ****& MESS, absolutely horrible DEFENSE
calderon is a question mark
knight is a bigger ? he didn't improve
and our bench "sigh"

Monroe is Good, but not great. In the league , you can get a great player for a good pf/c. Therefore moving Moose would give us the best bang for our buck.

If the right deal came around where we could land an all star for Moose I wouldn't be against it. I doubt we trade him but some people need to stop acting like he's untouchable. Moose is soft and a terrible defender. Until he toughens and stops being a lazy ass on defense he'll just be an empty stats guy. Right now Moose plays loser ball.

IF I were to move Moose...

toss in Knight and try and get Wall. :dontknow:

Wall/Dre = 2 potential superstars to build around.

Fill out rest of roster with draft and FA.

something like...

Wall/Oladipo/Iggy/Smoove/Dre

Would be one hell of a 2 way starting unit.

That is my pipe dream 'what if' scenario. Image

“Obviously, it’s a business, so you’re going to look at your options,” Iguodala said. “Here we have some good (prospects). But I’m not making any promises.”

Sounds like we'll have a shot at getting Iggy. After that all we'll need is an SG. I still think trading Monroe for an SG would be the best option. Mayo is the best SG this offseason and I'm not sold on him. Sign Al Jefferson or Josh Smith to replace Monroe (both have the same production as him), and then trade Monroe for the best SG we can get.

Of course Iggy said he'll explore his options. It's his best way to get a better contract from Denver. There is no way he is leaving a high seed Denver team for a bottom 5 Detroit team especially when Denver can give him more money and more years. None.

I agree with trading monroe because his value is so high and there are opportunities right now to get so much for him. If we could trade greg to phoenix for their first round pick plus a couple of players id take that. I'd draft Burke and oladipo. Then I would offer speights or landry a contract. Then go for cousins the following year. This is how I believe it has beneficial to trade Monroe. We get to fill other holes at point guard play and perimeter offense and defense. Then still have the money to get cousins. I would love to have a team of

Burke
Oladipo
?
Cousins
Drummond

Bench
Knight
Speights or Landry
(maybe Morris from Phoenix and dudley)

Not even close. Which is a shame because that'd be an amazing backcourt. My hope is that we'll be able to trade Monroe, our pick and something else to grab Beal. I'd be amazed if Washington traded him though, especially because they have Nene for 3 more years and Okafor for next. I just don't see them trading a 19 year old SG who's played incredibly since the All Star break.

Na. Their backcourt is the best thing they have going for them, I don't see them trading both of them. Perhaps if they don't want to give him the max, they might look to trade Wall. If so, I'd offer those 3 up for him and perhaps a guy like Chris Singleton.

Last 3 games for Wall: 35/9, 18/12, 47/8/7

There was a reason I did not bring up Beal when I brought up Wall a few posts above yours. We just do not have the assets to get both without including Dre.

Moose/Knight is most likely not enough to get Wall as is, adding Beal in would not be even remotely feasible. ;)

If we ask for Wall I don't think they'd up the ante to Drummond almost immediately.

I don't think he's a guy they'll trade unless they're getting something a little more special than Moose as the primary asset back.
