Paul would never come here.

But if Gores wants to spend, he better spend wisely. We dont want a repeat of 2009

Do not want Monta Ellis...or JSmoove for the max, or Mayo for anywhere near the max.

If the Clippers fizzle early in the playoffs again, I could see CP3 deciding to go elsewhere. Not sure if he'd choose here, but if we offer the most money you never know. I don't think it matters that we aren't a contender because the Clippers werent a contender either when we got there. He could go to any team and they instantly become contenders. And we got the bigs up front to attract him here. If he chose LAC because of Griffin, you would think he would be very interested in playing with Drummond who is like Griffin on steroids when it comes to lob dunks.

CP3 + Drummond would be game over.

If I'm Gores I amnesty CV and go all in for CP3. If you don't get him so be it, and then got to your plan B players, but they should at least try to get him in town to wine/dine him and make an offer he cant refuse.

Clips weren't a contender, but they are an attractive destination...being in LA. Can't they offer him more money than anyone else anyway because they own his bird rights?

I'm not opposed to making an offer at least, but I don't think we have as much to offer as other teams do.

Clips can offer the most money and they will.

Doesm't matter if he decides he doesn't want to play there anymore. Then it becomes which of the remaining teams in FA are willing to offer the most.

There is absolutely no way on earth that Chris Paul would leave money on the table to leave the Clippers, no matter how sweet we feel Paul/Drummond would be (and it WOULD be).

Its great that he's ready to spend to improve the team, I'm just not sure we're going to be happy with the options we ultimately have.

Sounds like we could see changes made as soon as Thursday.

“We’re assessing everything fast,” Gores said when asked if he had a timeline in mind for decisions on the futures of team leadership. “It’s a very important time, a critical time for the franchise. We’re fortunate enough to have a good young group of people, so we’ll do it fast, like we did when we came in and bought the team. We’re going to do this very, very quickly, but thoroughly.”

I expect a Frank firing to come very, very quickly.

Beyond that I can honestly say I don't have the first clue what to expect. Dumars could definitely be offed, though I still feel like the correct time to do that would have been last year if that was the direction Gores wanted to go in.

I just saw the video interview with Gores. At the end he was asked 2 questions simultaneuosly. "Can you give a vote of confidence to Joe Dumars?" and "What are your plans with the capspace?"

He dodged the question about Dumars and thats when he said "Tell the world we're ready to spend..."

Not sure if it means anything, but could be telling on his thinking towards Dumars. He did say they are still deciding on Frank and Dumars, so it is possible neither come back. He also said very important to have the right management team in place for this summer because of the capspace. When you factor in how Joe spent the last capspace, and add up everything he said, I starting to think he really might be going with a new GM next year.

^At best it means they're currently undecided on Joe D.

^I don't.

That's why I said "at best".

At worst it means Dumars should be packing his bags.

After that interview I have a strong feeling that Frank and Dumars will be gone. I think they deserve one more year to prove themselves and this will be a mistake by Gores. I'm scared to death that we will hire an incompetent GM.

There will always be a certain level of attachment to Dumars for a lot of us, but I think at this point its hardly a controversial statement to say that he's done a lackluster job at best in the last few years.

I think its absolutely time to move on. Of course, I thought so last year and thought Gores would cut him lose right when he came on board. That's why I'm still not sure he'll do it this year.

Dumars could be promoted out of the GM spot.
