Need for the #1 pick

Magic fan here, any interest in the 1st pick?

If so, what are the trade options?

I think Knight is the only thing we could offer and I'm personally not willing to give up on him. I think the best option for us is to just take the best wing available or try and flip it for a wing.

Expiring contracts in Rodney Stuckey (still a good player) and Charlie Villanueva (stretch 4 off the bench who can't defend)?

Just want to get rid of them somehow but I'm sure Joe D and many other don't agree.

Yeah, I'd think they'd be looking for something like Monroe or Drummond for him. And that's not something the Pistons would be interested in.

Nope. Not the draft to trade up in anyways.

Noooo...Moose/Dre should be off limits for draft-related trades...especially in this weak draft. We want to add to the core after all, not replace parts of it.

Agree, Moose and Dre are off limits.

I'd start with:

Our pick, Knight, and Singler

for

ORL pick, Harris, and Hedo (and maybe another contract)

ORL gets their PG, still stays in the lottery, and saves at least $12 million instantly in the process.

So....does this deal involve blackmailing the Magic GM?

I don't mean to be a jerk...I just think this is well...robbery.

Knight NEVER carried this kind of trade value, and he certainly doesn't after a lackluster sophomore season.

Bobcats fan here. Pistons should stand pat and take Oladipo.

Just my two cents.

I'm leaning towards this too.

Pistons fans are a little nuts here. If we move up to 1, it would be for Noel. I like McLemore but Noel is better. The only way we could move up to get to one would be either Knight and our pick for 1 which I don't think is enough or Monroe, our two seconds, and Villanueva for 1, Harris, Hedu and maybe Harkless which im not sure Detroit does. Only way I can see it would be with Monroe or Drummond. I don't see Drummond as a fit with Vujecic so Monroe only makes sense. If you told me we lost Monroe from our core and went forward with two picks, Drummond, Knight, Singler, Jerebko, Krastov, Harris, Harkless, Middleton, and English with Bynum and Maxiell let go with the contracts partially guaranteed of Stuckey and Hedu. I'd say yes.

Roster Going Forward:
C Andre Drummond
F Tobias Harris
G Brandon Knight
F Moe Harkless
F Kyle Singler
F Khris Middleton
G Kim English
C Slava Krastov
2 Lotto Picks
Loads of Cap Space

I'm ok with that.

Anyone who advocates trading Monroe must want to remain in the lottery for another few years...

Nothing in this draft is worth Drummond or Monroe, and that includes Noel. So to include them in any trtade for a draft pick is stupid.

The only thing we have to offer the Magic is cap space. We can take the pick and a bad contract for our pick and a not so bad contract. That's about the only thing that makes sense.

Agree...

Do they want to keep Afflalo? Would they rather have Stuckey's expiring deal? Or CVs expiring deal?

A tanking team doesn't need to pay veterans on long term contracts to meet the minimum team salary... they can trade for large expiring contracts... Hedo expires at the end of next season... maybe acquiring some other large contracts that expire at the same time would be a good idea?

The drama for Orlando is that they don't have a Monroe or Drummond they can build around... or use as a drawcard to lure free agents. IF they get the #1 pick I'm guessing they keep it unless they can get that drawcard

The only deal that makes sense to me would be flipping our picks and allowing Orlando to salary dump Hedo.

The only guy I really want in this draft is MacLemore. IMO if you put Drummond, Monroe or Knight in this years draft they'd likely be top 3 picks. I'd trade everything else (including cap space) for MacLemore.

Not interested in trading up to #1. There is not even a consensus #1 overall player in this pathetic draft. What's the point of trading up?
