I was taking a look at other teams rosters and I dnt see alot of trade targrts out there for sf and sg

Denver- with gallo out and brewer and iggy headed for fa I dont see no way they would trade chandler

Pacers-granger is injury prone plus hes 30 years old no way pacers would trade him to us

N.O-eric gordan we already dissucessed him

It seems free agents is the way to go as far as up grades go players we can look to sign

Kevin Martin-just turned 30 wont cost that much is a good outside shooter wack defense tho
O.J Mayo-is a good outside shooter to pair with knight and help space the floor for monroe and drummond
Tyreke Evans-not a great outside shooter but is a great slasher
Monta ellis-Im not a big fan of his plus him and knight in the backcourt is jennings and ellis part 2
Iggy-i thing he would be great for this team defense and playmaking

SG and SF is our biggest needs this summer and ofcourse a good coach

1) Cash will be given out, but not for the major free agents. We'll be signing some good veterans - maybe Calderon (maybe not - his D is so bad that it's hard to take him, but we need a guy to run our team for a couple of seasons to help the young guys on the team develop, so he's viable). I think we're going for mid-range guys, not stars. There really are no stars worth the max this season.

2) PG drafted, either MCW, McCollum or the German kid. Not Burke. Burke dooms us to awful PG defense plus he's too short to pair with Knight and that's no way to build a championship team.

3) Middleton battles Singler for SF. I like both these guys a lot, and think that positions in fine hands for a long time - unless a superstar comes available to us in some future draft year. None of the 2013 draftees are better than what we have now at this position - with exception (maybe) of Porter.

Edit - this is the major part: 4) We'll use our cap space to facilitate some major moves. We'll end up with one very good to great NBA player.

Yeah, I think Smith will have to choose between Detroit and Houston...I wouldn't be surprised if we offered a huge deal to Smith...I think Smith's more of a 4, but I can see Dumars wanting to sign him as our 3 for defensive reasons...

No way do we starting the season with Middleton or Singler as our starting 3...

yea if Smith actually wants to come to detroit I'd give him whatever he wants for 3 yrs. it'd be a nice change for us fans to get someone of Smith's caliber plus he's only 27. If we get lucky and get McLemore in the draft then add Smith and other role players, this team could easily make the playoffs next yr

I think it depends on the draft for sure but i would et smith, this teams needs someone his caliber who is already made his mark and in his prime. I would look to sign guys like billups, marion, k brown, t allen, to about 25% more than anyone else but on short 2yr deals. But also get smith or mayo depending who you draft. These leaves you more money for Monroe, drummond, and knight. But gets us into the playoffs. Smith I think for sure. He starts at the thrree, but also plays the third big. and it take away from an east conference playoff team Maybe we can flip Jarebko in` a smith deal

So you think the best way for our two franchise bigs to grow is to add another player who cant score outside of 5 feet?

You act like Smith is Ben Wallace. He'd be a better offensive player than anything we currently have at SF.

avg 18 ppg the last 2 yrs, and thats with PF's guarding him. If he had 6-7 SFs on him every night he could probably avg 20-22 ppg. He can't shoot, but he can certainly score - better than Singler at least.

Smith would be a horrible fit with Moose and Drummond. We need a SG and a SF but there aren't many options available.

I was on high on Mayo at the start of the season but his play in the last couple of months has scared me, I think he only averaged about 13ppg in the Feb/March, looks like he could be another overpaid SG ala BG.

Brewer would be good but he's a serviceable player rather than a very good player. I don't know if we'll be able to get him either.

Iggy is going to get overpaid imo. He's an excellent defender and a good all round player but he's beginning to age and will probably have regressed by the time our core is ready to contend.

Eric Gordon would be perfect but's he very injury prone and probably won't want to play in Detroit the way he doesn't want to play in New Orleans. Unless we get him for close to nothing I don't want to be paying a guy $15mill per to play 30 games a season.

Tyreke has had a good season but we need shooters around Moose and Drummond.

I'd love Tony Allen but he's a defensive player and probably isn't starting caliber.

CP3 is a pipe dream but would be amazing.

Apart from all the mediocre/serviceable guys available that's all I can think of atm, Joe does have his work cut out. Hopefully we can draft a starting wing to fill one of the positions, perhaps Middleton may even start next season, you never know...

I'm off the AI bandwagon. After watching Denver get abused by GS perimeter scorers, and AI who's supposed to be an elite perimeter defender do little to help, I don't want him anymore.

Plus he's starting to show his age, and most of his game has always been his athleticism. He's never been a good shooter. He relies on his athleticism to score, and it also plays a huge part on defense.

I'd go for Tony Allen for 5-7 mil/yr before giving AI a 10+ mil/yr deal. If we're just looking for a lockdown perimeter defender.

Smith would be a better fit at the 4 next to Drummond than Monroe. If you get Smith, you could get a nice return from trading Monroe.
