At 6-6 he should be SG, but most think he's not fast enough. He could be strong enough to be SF thought. At this point, I am not sure of the answer. He could play both IMO but be carefull at how it'll look on the defensive end... Not fast enough, not tall enough...

If Shabazz does get drafted by the Pistons, I hope he ends up playing SG.

On offense I think he's definitely our SG. if we Draft Shabazz I think we go after a defensive utility 3 meaning he will guard the opponents best player at the 2 or the 3.

I don't watch NCAA ball either but from everything I've heard and seen, I think he's a SF...

SG is the weakest position in NBA right now. Other than kobe, harden, wade there are not many superstars at the position. Shabazz D# cant be any worse than guys like mayo, jr smiths, ellis, evans. Shabazz has ideal size for SG and seems to use his strength really well and has a killer mentality on the offensive end that the pistons need. I'm hoping to get lucky and somehow get mclemore but shabazz seems to make the most sense for team if there looking for player with most upside. Maybe a repeat of Drummond where his game is more tailored to the pros and their bodies were not being properly taken care of at college level

He would likely alternate between the two and three until they figured out where he's most comfortable.

I wouldn't be against them drafting him if we end up with 7/8, and McLemore, Oladipo, and Burke are off the board (most likely, they will be). Shabazz gets way too much criticism. Whomever drafted him will get a talented scorer with 3-point range, and likes to get inside and get to the line.

Question his passing all you like. The guy shouldn't be drafted as a facilitator, he's built to score the rock. And, that's exactly who the Pistons need on the perimeter, a "F-U" mentality guy.

Physically, Shabazz would dominate those guys and take them onto the block and post them up.

I think I'm actually talking myself into Shabazz. Go, me!

I just don't see how he guards anyone in the league at the SG position.

I'm also not sure how he could stay with most SF's in the league.

The Pistons have got to have perimeter defenders, and Shabazz sure doesn't seem like he'd fulfill that need. I get the need for scoring, but unless he tests out as a much better athlete than the scouting reports suggest he is, then I cannot see the Pistons drafting him.

Plus, he is coming into this draft with serious character questions. Even if he turns out to be athletic enough, IMO, the Pistons shouldn't be drafting a guy who is a knucklehead - so he'd have to run that gauntlet, too, before I'd want the team to draft him.

Would you rather have a big SG, or a small SF?

IMO, Shabazz is a SG

What good is a big SG if he cannot guard other SG's out because of a lack of athleticism? And since the Pistons already have Monroe and Drummond dominating down low, we don't need our SG to be a post up player. I get Shabazz has some serious offensive skills - but I don't see why the Pistons would prioritize going for a selfish, ballhog SG, who doesn't defend his position.

I don't see the fit for us with this guy.

^ I'm with you on this. McLemore, Porter, Oladipo, KCP would be way better fits for us. Monroe and Shabazz would be redundant.

The narratives that have been created on Shabazz' "lack of character" are hilarious. Molehill meets mountain every time.

Yeah - watching the playoffs reminds me of how fierce you have to play in the playoffs to go anywhere. It does make me think that the team needs to have a guy like Oladipo, who nobody in the league will out-compete.

The Pistons have Drummond and Monroe as the obvious key core guys to go to war with for the next decade. We also have super competitors in Knight (who could also be a star, maybe, but we know he has big-time heart), Singler and JJ (who, again, nobody will out-compete), and IMO, a maybe a star in the making in Middleton. I'd appreciate the Pistons thinking if they went for Oladipo, because that guy is coming into the league with a playoff attitude.

If the Pistons went to war with a supporting cast of Knight, Singler, JJ and Oladipo - you know that no team would out compete us. Drummond and Monroe and Middleton would be inspired playing with guys like that. We need Drumroe to compete the way the Bulls and Grizzlies big men compete, and surrounding them with players who bust their hump all the time, seems to have a lot of merit.

I've been being a proponent for drafting a PG. MCW is my choice because he's big and a true point. However, based on what I've said in this post, I wonder if he's the kind of take no prisoners competitor that the team needs.

I don't think we'll have to decide whether to draft Shabazz or Oladipo, we'll be lucky to have one of them there when we pick. Unless PHX gets a top 3 pick, I think they will take Oladipo.

Middleton could be a Rip Hamilton like player if he works hard.
