Amnesty CV31, cap room ~ $35M

Thunder create an $8 M trade exemption, flip Lamb out for two cheaper wing shooters and get out of Perkins' deal. (Piston Cap room ~ $27M)
$27 M cap room = Sign Andre Iguodala ($16M), Jerryd Bayless (24 years old, $6-7M), Aminu (22 years old, $4-5M)
Draft one of Shabazz/McLemore/Porter/Olidipo
Knight/Bayless
Lamb/Stuckey
Iguodala/Rookie
Monroe/Aminu/Jerebko
Drummond/Perkins/Krav

I have a hard time getting excited about any plan that doesn't put a reliable 3 point shooter into our starting lineup. If we're building around Drummond/Monroe we NEED shooters.
I realize many of the most attractive FA options out there aren't shooters, but there must be a way.

Lamb? Bayless would also likely see a lot of time, he shot 35% from 3 last year.
We'd have Drummond, Monroe, Knight, Lamb, Bayless, Aminu, 2013 draft pick as a young core all under 24.

^We just haven't seen the evidence on Lamb yet.
I dunno, maybe I'm being too big a stickler about the spacing issue, but I don't think so.
I definitely like Iggy, but I view him as a probable longshot. He definitely hasn't been gushing about wanting to stay in Denver, but unless they're going to get cheap on him it seems likely he'd resign.

I hear you on spacing, but while not having a Ray Allen type shooter I view Iggy, Lamb, Knight & Bayless to at least have 3 point range.
I thought it'd seemed as though Iggy was going to test FA. I veiw him as a guy who will go wherever offers him a max deal. He doesn't exactly fit what we'd like to spend that money on, but options are limited and his defense & passing should be a good complement to our bigs.

Why would anyone offer Iggy a max deal?

Snake makes a good point.
Also, if your team wants to compete now, you shouldn't have Perkins on it. The guys literally dead weight.

Because he's one of the best wing defenders in the world and he's a pretty good offensive player. Can get his own shot, great as a fast break player, great third option in the half court. And you have to spend your money somewhere...better off getting one very good player for $14m than a couple of mid-level guys at $6-7m.
He won't fetch the full max but he should get paid well. We gave Ben Gordon $12m a year, but you can't see how someone would give Iggy $15m?

i'm torn when it comes to Iggy. He's a little old and he'll be expensive, but he'll give us a big improvement on the wings.
i dunno.

I actually like the idea of trading raw cap space for Perkins/Lamb.
Maybe make the deal Jerebko for Perkins/Lamb? OKC would still be saving a good amount of cap instantly, and JJ can play some 4 for them while Ibaka begins to play more C.

Knight/Bayless are both backup guards, imo. I wouldn't give Bayless $6-7M/year when I have Knight on a rookie deal. Lamb hasn't shown anything, so how is he suddenly a starting NBA SG?

With Martin expiring and Sefolosha only having 1 year left on his deal, OKC could actually use a young SG. I'm not too excited about Lamb's prospects if OKC becomes the 2nd team to trade him in his first year in the league.
Perry Jones 3 is stuck behind Durant and is unlikely to ever see more than 10 mins per game. I think the lotto pick they got from Toronto is also acquirable (not sure they want the guarenteed salary on their payroll). I'd probably ask for both if I was taking on Perkins for 2 years.

You must have missed his 0-6 3pt shooting display in the last game of the season. 0-10 combined for his last 2 games. I really don't see us going into next year with Knight/Lamb as our starting back court.

Trade to OKC:
Greg Monroe
Rodney Stuckey
Kyle Singler
Jerebko
Viacheslav Kravtsov
Get:
Serge Ibaka
PJ 3
Jeremy Lamb
2013 Rap's first round pick
Select Oladipo or Shabazz with our pick and then MCW with OKC's pick.
Amnesty CV, try our hardest to sign Chris Paul. If we can't get the deal done (most likely not), we will sign:
1. Andre Iguodala for 4 yr, 45 mil
2. Devin Harris for 2 yr, 13 mil
3. Chris Kaman for 3 yr, 15 mil
4. Samuel Dalembert for 3 yr, 18 mil
Brandon Knight/Devin Harris/MCW
Oladipo or Shabazz/Lamb/English
Iguodala/PJ 3/Middleton
Ibaka/Dalembert
Drummond/Kaman
Right away we will have the most vaunted defensive frontcourt in the NBA. If Knight and Iguodala share the ball as playmakers, Ibaka will compliment Drummond because he has a decent jumper. In the mean time, we will let Drummond develop inside without having to worry about occupying too much space with Monroe. Lamb will develop as a sophomore as well as PJ 3 who will get more playing time in Detroit. This team should be able to contend in the Eastern conference.

Am I only one who doesn't understand why people post crap like this? This isn't 2k.
@OP, I like your plan but I have two concerns. Firstly, I want no part of Kendrick Perkins, he is absolutely useless and annoying as hell haha. Secondly, whilst I think Iggy is a very good player, I don't know if I could justify paying a guy who is probably only going to contribute 13-14ppg the max. He is an excellent defender and a guy you'd love to have on your team, but with him getting older and the team in desperate need of a 3 point shooters who can space the floor, plus what he will end up getting paid, I don't think he would fit at Detroit.

is all that needs to be said about this.
