I want Detroit to draft Shabazz

Pick apart his game all you want- I love this kids competitiveness, effort and attitude. He's not going to shy away from the big moment, and would probably get into a fist fight with Villanueva before training camp commenced because Shabazz would be riding his ass for being lazy.

And really, how many "elite" shooting guards are there in the NBA that he would be forced to guard? Kobe and Wade? Both on the tail ends of their careers, Kobe might never even be Kobe again. Harden, sure, but he's in the west. Who else?

I want Detroit to draft him too - but only if we trade down to 15 to get him :-)

Seriously, he is going to have position issues. He is too slow and not athletic enough to guard NBA 2s. And maybe not big enough to stop 3s from shooting over him. He is still riding a lot of his high school hype and wasn't able to carry his team in college. All that being said, I'm sure he will be able to score in the NBA. But for wing positions, I'd absolutely rather have McLemore, Porter, and Oladipo. And KCP is climbing draft boards fast and is a legit SG.

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion. I honestly don't believe he's going to be available at #15, with the way it's going, it's entirely a possibility he won't be available at #7.

I already addressed the defensive points. Also, he's really physical defensively. I think he could use that to overpower a lot of guards and convince them to pass off the ball opposed to getting beaten on constantly.

Either way, we'll have to wait and see what happens. For all we know, Dumars could go on a crazy coke binge the night of the draft and take Kelly Olynyk.

Me too. I like him a lot. His competitiveness is hard to match.

That's what got to me. He seemed rather intense and very competitive.

^He's going to get all hopped up on Pepsi and Krispy Kremes and trade Drummond + the 7th pick to move up to #1 and draft Olynyk.

He states that he sees himself at the 2 in the NBA. That is what I wanted to here. I'd like to see how his workouts go against the other 2 guards. If he can do a decent job staying in front of them and guarding them, I'd be happy to see the Pistons draft him.

Then gives Maxiell a max contract extension, and trades Monroe, Knight and all of our second round picks through 2020 to Memphis to get his buddy Tayshaun back.

Muhammed on the Pistons:

He said he believes he has helped ease any concerns already this week, including an interview Wednesday with Pistons brass.

"Good feedback," he said. "Just telling them everything, telling them the truth. Everything I'm telling them is really truthful."

Muhammad said if the Pistons draft him, he believes it would be a "great fit" with a team seeking perimeter help, and said he has a friendly relationship with center Andre Drummond from their days together on the AAU circuit.

"I love Andre, that's my guy, and Greg (Monroe), and then Brandon Knight also is a really good point guard," Muhammad said. "I'm tall, I have length, I could see myself fitting really well with them. I love the young teams who have bits and pieces. I think I can really learn a lot from that and come out and try to help them out right away."

Muhammad said he views the Pistons as a team that "just needs another guy who can come in there and score, and they'll be a really good ballclub."

It helps that we have this young nucleus now who are familiar with all these prospects and can give Joe some insight. I bet if Drummond told Joe he wanted to play with Shabazz, it would help our chances of Joe choosing him. Just like when Moose told him he wanted to play with Drummond

Sounds like Shabazz knows our situation pretty well. I think he's spot on and still the guy I want. I have him and Porter as 1a and 1b.

I don't want this kid. Something seems off about him - he comes off really artificial/affected, like he's just saying what he thinks everybody wants to hear.

Well, isn't everyone at the draft combine? They aren't there to hurt their chances of being drafted high.

At least Shabazz said what he said with conviction. There wasn't pausing, or a lot of "uhm" and "you know" thrown in. He answered the questions clearly and concise with conviction. I appreciate it.

I'm not big on Porter, he just seems too safe. He even compared himself to Tayshaun Prince, which he isn't.

I would rather swing for the fences on Muhammed. If he pans out, he could be a solid 20+ PPG scorer for us. If not, well, it's not like we passed up on a surefire hall of famer (blatant Darko jab).

Shamu sounds the opposite of Jeremy Lamb in terms of NBA knowledge. Check out his Portland interview for a good laugh

As much as Bazz makes me nervous, 2 things I like about him at the combine:
1. He is trying to be a SG
2. He is going to work out - probably the highest ranking player to do so. Most guys in his position just get measured and interviewed. Good for him.

But things that make me nervous:
1. He has a crazy dad
2. He is 20
3. Not sure if he is athletic enough to be a SG at the next level

I like how some people are so opposed to drafting Shabazz (not pointing fingers), and then there's another thread where people are lobbying for why Detroit should overpay for Tyreke Evans, the master of inefficient selfish play, who won't defend and can't shoot. BTW, he's also older than 20 years old!

I want Shabazz too but your description of Evans is flat out wrong, especialy if you look at this past season.

This is nonsense. Evans shot 48% FG last year, which is the definition of efficient for a guard. He's also a proven unselfish playmaker, avg 6 asts in two of his four seasons.

I simply don't get the Evans hate, but I'm starting to think a lot of the ppl have never even seen him play.

He's still only 23 yrs old. Sure he has things to improve on like all young players, but I don't get ppl writing him off at only 23 when he's avg 18 pts, 5 asts, and 5 rebs on 45% FG for his career thus far.

I understand ppl writing off Knight when he only avg 13/4/3 on 40% FG, but Evans has actually shown there's something potentially great there worth developing.

I say why one or the other on Evans/Shabazz.....we can have them both,,,and I think they'd form a menacing duo at the 2 and 3 to pair with our already menacing frontcourt duo.
