back-ups for the 4 and 5

to back-up Moose and Drummond. Not everybody thinks Moose should stay, but oh well....

I want Al Horford for a 3-big set. But trading for him aint gonna happen.
Josh Smith could be in a 3-big rotation as well. And that kinda frightens me.
Millsap could be in a 3-big rotation as well. Great player. Frightens me tho.

I'm now thinking that we need....

a back-up 5 who is like Drummond with blocks/boards. obviously not as good as Drummond but better than Kravstov or senior citizen Big Ben. Alex Len might be the answer with the 7th pick. Rudy Gobert might be as well.
back-up centers with those skills can pad your wins. a little more so in the Playoffs.

a stretch-4 to back-up Moose. it could do wonders for everybody else on the floor. we already have Singler, so we're good. But we should still look at signing Daye imo, bcuz then we would have 2 of them.
I don't want Charlie V to be our back-up 4 for at least a few reasons.
Jerebko can hit some long ones, but overall he aint no stretch-4 and there is no longer room for him on the team if we go the stretch-4 route. can't pay somebody $4.5m when you plan on sticking them to the bench.

Anyways...what y'all think?
And would Millsap/Horford/Smoove even get to make others better or would their skills just overlap too much?

I'm expecting Mornoe and Drummond to play 34 to 40 minutes a night each which leaves 16 to 26 minutes a night for back-ups. I'm ok with Villanueva, Krastov, and Jerebko seeing those 16 to 26. I mean we are paying them all anyways.

I don't think we should be paying more than the MLE for a 3rd big.

PF targets: Clark, Hickson

C targets: Kaman, Dalembert, Blatche, Speights

I think Speights is our best bet for a 3rd big, he can play the 4 or the 5 and he has a nice mid-range game. he should also come a lot cheaper than a guy like Millsap.

if we sign Speights than we should keep CV as our stretch 4 and like the OP said find a defensive backup C who can give us a solid 10-15 mins a night like Daly or Withey.

i think hickson would be a good get. for some reason i dont see charlie v getting amnestied though even though it makes a hell of a lot of sense.

Sounds like a good list to me...No love to Andrew Bynum or Millsap though?..

Brendan Wright would be a solid 4/5 backup that wouldn't break the bank. I think Dallas wants to resign him, but doesn't mean he's impossible to get.

We need so much more help on the perimeter. The guys you listed are great players, but too much of a luxury considering our needs.

Well said. That's why I like Wright. He's going to be a cap friendly deal and can play either position well.
