Draft Zeller or Len

The likelihood of drafting a bonafide starter at #8 is looking less and less likely, so I say draft our backup big, which is just as valuable salary cap wise, as an above average starting guard anyway. We then lock in our front-court, and use our cap space on proven wings. Iggi is my prime target, then try and get Reddick or Afflalo at 2. Don't resign Calderon, but re-sign Bynum to keep the Drummond chemistry going.
Knight/Bynum
Reddick/Stuckey
A.I/Middleton
Moose/Zeller/CV
Drummond/Zeller

You can find a bonafide starter anywhere. while a lot of these players can't become stars they can be quality starters and if Zeller is the best player on the board i have no problem drafting him, but wing is more of a need.

If we select Zeller or Len with the 8th pick I promise Dumars will be fired before the trade deadline...

As much as I think Zeller or especially Len have value at #8, I think we need to take a swing at a SG. KCP has some serious potential and could easily be our STARTING SG next year. That's more important than a backup big.

Zeller yes - Len No. Zeller can play the 4/5, Len is only a center. Drummond can't play PF, so it means he and Len would have to split the 48 minutes at center. Zeller can play both PF and Ce so could get 30+ minutes backing up both, with Drummond and Monroe getting starter minutes as well.

Still fail to see why people don't see Shabazz as a great value at 8..

They're listening to the media. Which you would think they would be weary of, considering these were the same people claiming Drummond was going to be a useless bust in the NBA a year ago.
Considering there's no guarantee that you're getting a good player for your team even if you own the first pick, getting a surefire scorer with size like Shabazz at #8 is oozing "steal of the 2013 draft" status.

At this stage if either of them are clearly better than the wings available, then sure why not.

I want them to draft Shabazz but really hard to like him right now if you watched the combine, he looked out of shape and out of place.

If it came down to Zeller or Len then Id hope Joe D would be calling Denver and working on a trade.
Something along the lines of Jonas Jerebko/#8(Zeller) for Wilson Chandler/Evan Fournier. Denver trades for much needed bigsand we get a solid SF and a young SG prospect.
Detroit: Knight/Fournier/Chandler/Monroe/Drummond
Denver: Lawson/Igoudala/Gallinari/Zeller/McGee

The word on Len is that he will be a legit starting center in the NBA. The reason he didn't look so good in college is that he had a crappy team, and if you're a big man in college and your guards either don't know how to get you the ball or if they are just chuckers, then you're not going to look so good. But Len will be gone before #8 for sure, and if he is available to us, we should be on the phone making a trade.
