Does going to the triangle take some pressure off of Knight?

Do you need a stretch 4 for the triangle?

Seems like most important need is a scoring 2, which means we need Shamu. I don't really know much about the triangle.

Shabazz is not a good fit for the triangle because he doesn't pass the ball, ever. For the triangle to work, you need willing passers.

The triangle is about spacing so that all 4 guys on offense can be passed to and so that the defense has to cover lots of ground to help and counter the passes. So the most important skill is the ability to make quick reads, and to be smart enough to stay within the system. Apart from that, you want the most flexible and versatile players possible-- if everyone can pass brilliantly and hits 3s and crash the offensive glass, that's great--but you make do with your personnel.

Yi Jianlian's skillset would compliment this system as a back up big. If you have seen him play, he has a great shooting touch and has developed some go-to postmoves. I'd still say hes still be capable of becoming a poor mans LaMarcus Aldridge. He just needs to get a team that fits his skillset. Hes not a stretch 4 as previous teams used him. Being an MVP, and a champion should get him recognition this summer league.

Who knows Shaw would even implement the triangle system as a head coach?

People forget that Phil's Lakers teams ran a lot of pick and roll plays for their offense, and even more iso plays for Kobe.

I'd be more interested in how well he could institute a defensive system similar to Frank Vogel's.

First part is not true. Just because a player doesn't get assists doesn't mean he doesn't pass the ball. I agree the triangle requires willing passers, but Shabazz is a willing passer. From the games I've seen, he is very willing to move the ball. He just does it early in the posession, so by the time it gets to the player whose shooting it, he wasn't the one assisting.

But this perception thats painted by some that he is like Ben Gordon or Will Bynum and he just dribbles around and hogs the ball looking for his own shot is simply not true. At least from the games I've seen.

If he were that way, I wouldn't want him. I didn't see that out of him at all though.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but do we know for sure that Shaw will run the triangle? Or are we just speculating because of his work with Phil?

Hes told other teams hes interviewed with he would. Its why hes had trouble finding a head coaching job. He did get an offer from the Bobcats last year, but told them he wanted to coach a playoff team.
