Bazz Poll

two questions, yes or no is fine. there are plenty of threads on the board to discuss Bazz, I just want to get a gauge of where the board stands as a whole.

1. Do you want Bazz?

2. Do you think Bazz can be a 1st or 2nd option on a championship caliber team?

the first question is to see if the vocal majority for Bazz around here is the true majority and the 2nd because thats really the main issue.

I voted no/yes but I think he could be a 2nd option on a contender IF the first option is a superstar. I probably should have voted no/no but I was feeling generous.

You don't come to Seaworld to see the other fish.

Three of these poll answers are wrong :-)

If you REALLY think a team could reach a championship with him as a 2nd option then I'm not sure why you wouldn't want him if you think he's got that kind of potential.

I voted no/no. I'm not really sure about the first answer though. I've been lazy with my research this year.

I voted yes/no,but if you are asking if someone is at 8 that I like better than bazz would I still want bazz as a first option, then no so if thats the case than no/no.

im just trying to see where everybodys at with Bazz and what role they see him playing.

@ the yes/no'ers, do you think Bazz will be content with not being a 1st or 2nd option?

Voted yes/yes. Shabazz is like Drummond, he's going to boom or bust, probably not much in between.

Could he be the second or first scoring option with two monster bigs like Monroe and Drummond devouring the interior? Yes, as long as he cashes in on his potential.

But, I'm putting that second "yes" out there in a 4 or 5 year down the road prediction. Shabazz and the rest of the young Pistons core still need a few years to develop and get their feet wet with playoff experience.

Potentially... Yes/Yes. Potentially. Precisely why you take him at 8, because theres the chance.

If he has the mind frame that he should come in right away and should be our 1-2 option and not get it,I think he will be fine and iam sure he knows he cant come in here and think he deservers to start over anybody without proving himself first. If we do draft him iam sure he knows that our sg-sf position isnt set in stone and is wide open for the taking if he out performs and performs well and if he does , it wont be like dre were he wont start until the last 2 weeks of the season he will start after 2-3 weeks if he earns it.

I've wavered back and forth on Bazz. Currently, I do not want him. I see him as a taller version of Ben Gordon, a 1-diensional scorer, and only a scorer.

He's Ben Gordon on steroids with less range but a better post-up game.

IF he develops into Melo-lite, then maybe a decent 2nd option. And I wouldn't say I want him at #8... but I don't know that I'd pass on him either. This draft kinda sucks. I'm a Yes/Yes...but very reluctantly and I feel I may regret it.

I surprised myself by voting yes/no. If I had to bet a thousand bucks on whether or not he'll ever become a solid and reasonably efficient scorer in the vein of Ben Gordon or Rip Hamilton, I'd bet no. I just don't see how his skillset translates to the NBA, and his advanced stats in college were off-the-charts bad for a top-10 prospect. Like way WAY worse than one-dimensional guys like Ben Gordon, Jamal Crawford, etc.

But I want a reason to pay attention next year. I think it'll be fun to watch Bazz if he fails or flourishes and I'm looking forward to the discussions about him. I also think there's a decent chance he figures out a totally different way to play and becomes the sort of decent scorer we need. Either way, he's an interesting player on and off the court, and I don't think the same can be said for other guys available at 8. I'm an old FreeDarko devotee...I like the storylines in the NBA as much as I like solid business decisions.

I might have to change my mind after the workout tape I just saw. His handle looks mad shaky, and the form on his j looks pretty broke. If he can't be an above average midrange shooter (like he was this year, to everyone's surprise) and a very good ball handler for a 3, he seems sorta hopeless as a prospect. Not a great athlete, not great size to make up for it, not a good first step, one of the worst creators in the history of the lottery, plus the broken handle and shot...I wanna believe but that's a pretty convincing list of faults. Has anyone ever been a good NBA player with a list like that? Someone convince me he won't be the wing version of Jason Maxiell!

I voted no/no

I've stated for a while now I'm leaning towards M.C.W because of the other tools he brings to the table... if you take shooting out of the equation MCW still brings some "gifts" to the party... what does Bazz bring?

At this stage, based on what I've seen and read I don't view Bazz as a #1 or #2 option on a contender. If I did I would want him at #8

IF we pick him at #8 I hope he comes into the NBA with the Paul Pierce attitude. He was picked 10th the year he came out and went to work... made teams pay dearly for not taking him. We've read/seen/heard Bazz has a killer mentality... I hope he does IF we take him at #8
