Jeff Teague?

JT is a restricted free agent, so it wouldn't be easy to acquire him. But, considering we had a thread on Brandon "Chucker" Jennings, I figured I would get the pulse on Teague.

in the 2012/13 season, he averaged 15 pts, 7 assists, 1.5 steals, and a little under 3 turnovers. He shot 45% overall, with a weak 3-point average of 36% in 32 minutes of action.

He's just 24 years old, his best years are theoretically ahead of him. Would this be a guy that Detroit could or should make an aggressive offer sheet for?

For a frame of reference, Chauncey Billups came to Detroit after his fourth season, where he averaged 12.5 PPG, 5.5 ast, on 43% overall shooting the season prior. Not saying that Billups and Teague are similar, as Billups took better care of the ball, and was already a sharp shooter. But, Teague could be ready for a leap like Billups.

RealGM debate go!

He's certainly a better candidate than Jennings was...I can't believe that was even a consideration. Not even the Bucks fans like Jennings and his arrogant attitude.

I'll take Jennings over Teague any day of the weak...I could care less what Buck fans think, our team is totally different...

We'd have to get creative with the offer sheet to even have a chance at him... and being creative is not Joe!

Nothing wrong with Teague though... I just don't think we'd even make the phone call to see if he was interested

Good point. This is the same Joe Dumars who didn't even approach David Lee's agent to gauge his availability while handing Charlie Villanueva a loaded contract.

I like teague, but it's very tricky going after RFA.
we'll have to see how it plays out in the draft and where other key FA go. I don't see him being on top of Joe list, so i don't think he'll tie up our cap space for a week on his offer sheet.

The one caveat I can see in the dynamic is that the Hawks want to make a run at Howard and CP3, letting Josh Smith walk in FA.

If a team came in and quickly offered a deal to Teague, where if ATL matched, would cripple their chances at getting Howard or CP3, I could see them being strong-armed into letting Teague walk.

Atlanta has like no one on their payroll for next year - they will keep Teague and still have enough room for Howard and CP3.

Not even a chance of working a sign and trade?

Detroit already has a PG that's best fit in that role.

A lot is wrong with him. Jennings is the same low percentage chucking buffoon he was when he came into the league. Morons look at Jennings and see the 50 point game he put up as a rookie and say "Derp, he a great player. DERP! Derp you a hater cuz he got swag, DERP-A-DERP! DERP only haterz care bout shooting percentages. FIDDY POINT GAME! DERPA ADERPA DIPPITY DOO! #GIVEJENNINGSTHE MAXYOLODERP" They take 45 minutes to right this because they are typing with one finger while their other fingers rotate between digging into a stale bag of cheetos, their nose and wiping the drool off their stupid faces. We've had a poisonous locker room since 2008. It's time to clear the air not dump 170 pounds of anthrax and ricin into the air vents. Maybe a vet team with a well established coach can keep that douche in line. But we're the **** Pistons. We don't have any vets. We don't have a well established coach. We already have a bunch of worthless toxic douche bags filling roster. Teague is the kind of guy that we should look at (the kind of guy Joe use to go after). He's a young player that has improved every year in the league. He shoots a good percentage, can run an offense, and a solid assist to turnover ratio. The only thing he lacks is that #YOLOSWAG the mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, troglodytes love.

What would they need Teague for if they're gonna sign CP3?

Pretty accurate... they've gotta spend it somewhere... why not on one of their own... I don't see anyone offering Teague 8+ Mil first year.

They have a little over 22 million on their payroll with Horford, Williams, Jenkins & Two 1st round pick this year.

Still need more that 1 guy that can play PG on your team, but I get your point.

Atlanta will have an interesting offseason. Ferry came in and kicked ass in his first week as GM. They are set to make some moves - it will be interesting to see what they can pull off.
