Draft Shabazz Muhammad at #8 Draft w/e on the 2nd round.
Trade Rodney Stuckey for Trevor Ariza.
Washington has been looking for a combo guard for a while and Ariza is a solid defender and a half-decent 3 point shooter and we need a SF badly.
Trade Kyle Singler a 2nd and a TPE for Courtney Lee.
Boston get out of Lee's contract and add a cheap youngish player. We add a 3&D role player.
Sign Brandon Jennings (ew I know) to a deal starting at ~9 million.
Sign JJ Hickson to a deal starting at ~8 million.
Go 8 man deep.
Drummond (32)
Monroe (32) / Hickson (32)
Ariza (32)
Lee (28) / Shabazz (24)
Jennings (32)/ Knight (28)
Charlie Villanueva $ 8,580,000
Jonas Jerebko $ 4,500,000
Greg Monroe $ 4,086,454
Brandon Knight $ 2,793,960
Andre Drummond $ 2,462,400
Slava Kravtsov $ 1,500,000
Khris Middleton $ 788,872
Shabazz Muhammad $ 2,136,100
Trevor Ariza $ 7,727,280
Courtney Lee $ 5,225,000
Brandon Jennings $ 9,000,000
JJ Hickson $ 8,000,000
$55,755,066
Andre Drummond / J.J. Hickson / Slava Kravtsov
Greg Monroe / Jonas Jerebko / Charlie Villanueva
Trevor Ariza / Khris Middleton
Courtney Lee / Shabazz Muhammad
Brandon Jennings / Brandon Knight
We would have a little more than 2 million to get a reliable backup/3rd stringer combo guard or winger depending on what we get with our 2nd round pick. Reggie Williams or Martell Webster are names that come to my mind.
We would still have CV, Ariza and Slava's expirings + Knight and Shabazz to try to pull a blockbuster at the deadline.

I like your logic in reference to Ariza and Lee. I'm not a big fan of Ariza, because hes become lazy in recent years. But, he wouldn't be any worse than Stuckey. Courtney Lee could be a nice addition. I wouldn't give Boston a second round pick for him though.
The only thing I don't like about this is Brandon Jennings being involved in any capacity and overpaying Hickson to come off the bench.
I liked your offseason plan #3975 better.

That starting lineup need a volume scorer badly. Lee is offensive challenged ans Ariza isn't mnuch better than him. Drummond is still very raw so Monroe would need a ton of help.

17 mil dedicated to Jennings/Hickson...I don't think I could continue to actively follow this team if we pull another one of those off seasons...
Would welcome Lee/Ariza though, they are both solid.

I like your Jennings, Shabazz, and Hickson idea...Not a fan of picking up Lee or Ariza though...

Not as good as 4872, so I have high hopes for 4874.

Pass. I'm looking forward to 4874 without Jennings this time.

Ahaha ok I'll make sure to post a 4874 without Jennings this week. I don't like Jennings either btw but that team really need a scorer lol.

Your desire for a volume scorer makes sense. Lee and Ariza are 3/D guys, you can't depend on them for huge scoring outside of a random game here and there.
Shabazz would need to contribute soon. But, Jennings just isn't an answer I like. He's more of a volume shooter than a volume scorer. For every 30 point game he has, there's five or six games where he shoots 30% or less.

One of your plans is going to end up being right by default....
Hopefully it isn't this one!!!

I don't think a starter type is coming to be a role player no matter how much we pay him. I think we will have a hard time finding any impact value for a reserve role when we sucked so bad.

Out of all these names, Jennings aside. I think Shabazz is the most likely to come in & score 15-17 a night consistently the quickest.

There's no question he isn't going to try. He is absolutely the top player right now that may make GM's wonder why they hell they didn't draft him, while they're waiting a couple seasons hoping their lottery pick can play.

1) Not a fan of Ariza. Not worth it. Would be cheaper to just outright sign Matt Barnes for half the money.
2) I like Kyle Singler more than Courtney Lee at this juncture. Maybe, back in 2009, I would have taken Lee though.
3) Hickson is not worth $8 mil per. MLE sounds about right. I think there has to be reasons a team like Portland who needs centers is letting a career backup like him go. Kaman would be a great temp backup for a few years.
