With the recent hire of Mo Cheeks it sounds as if the Pistons really view BK7 as our PG of the future. Here is an offseason built to support this theory.

Draft Anthony Bennet

Sign OJ Mayo (2 year + 1player option 8 mill per season)
Sign Corey Brewer (3 year 4.5 mill per season)
Sign Samuel Dalembert (2 year for 2.5 mill per season)
Sign DJ Augustine (2 year for 3 mill per season)

Knight/DJ
OJ/Stuckey/English
Brewer/Singler/Middleton
Monroe/Bennet/Jerebko/CV
Drummond/Dalembert/Kravstov

Before trade deadline trade Stuckey and CV in a big trade to net us some sort of talent or young pieces

This team could definitely fight for an 8th seed in the playoffs and would be fun to watch

not a fan.

I'm worried Bennet doesn't find a position with his lack of size and quickness, so i'm not for that.
Also i think you salaries are a little low. Mayo is going to get over $10 mill per whether he deserves it or not.
I also think Brewer and Dally will get more this offseason too.
Augustine wouldnt leave Indy (not sure if they want to keep him though) to be a back up for a lottery team.
I don't mind Augustine though.

I'm a bit worried about Bennett's size too... but I'm more worried that shabazz and MCW won't be good NBA basketball players. I'd be happy if Bennett fell to us, dude looked pretty damn skilled this year.

I agree with dvs on the FA prices though. All of them seem vaguely possible but also the lowest possible estimates.

You idea seems safe...I wouldn't sign Brewer though, he's not a starting caliber players plus he sucks...In your model I would start Bennett at the 3 and see what kind of transition he can make...I like you Dalembert and Augustine pick-ups too...

DJ Augustine is a minimum salary scrub. Dalembert will go to a contender and will get paid more than that, Bennett is a horrible option for us and he will be drafted before the #8, Brewer will not sign for less than the MLE that's laughable. Knight as your starter PG is a joke.

No thanks...

Bennett may or may not be a man without a position in the NBA... IMO we can't afford to take the risk

Mayo is likely to get more than $8 mil... and certainly more guaranteed years

Brewer can't shoot from long range and while his D is quality I don't think we can afford to spend $4.5 mil on someone who hurts us offensively

Daley is likely to go to a contender... if he didn't want to chase a ring I'd welcome him here

Augustine? Love the fact you mentioned him. It seems no team has really given him much of a chance. Joe used to love those guys... and somehow it worked extremely well for us... Joe's moved away from that... or has he? Either way D.J is an interesting name...

Whether or not you like his plan, at least it's realistic. Most of those free agents will chase the biggest pay day.

I agree with Vege. If the Pistons plan is to tank to get the first overall pick in 2014 than I say yes. These signnings would make 2009 look like a distant memory.
