One particular analyst, former pro scout Amin Elhassan, says he'd look good with the Detroit Pistons.

"(Detroit has a) need for a guard to run the show for a young team with nice pieces, and the local connection doesn't hurt," Elhassan wrote. "Orlando has a need, but taking him second overall might be too much of a reach."

The Pistons presently hold the eighth pick in June 27's draft. Burke has gone through formal workouts with the Sacramento Kings (No. 7) and Phoenix Suns (No. 5), and had one scheduled with the New Orleans Pelicans (No. 6) this week.

He has not worked out for the Pistons. And he did not interview with Detroit during his time at the NBA draft combine last month. Asked by MLive.com earlier this week if his son had plans to work out for Detroit, Burke's father and agent, Benji Burke, said no -- not at this time.

He does, however, have a personal relationship with Pistons president Joe Dumars -- as Dumars' son, Jordan, was a member of the Michigan basketball team when Burke arrived in Ann Arbor in 2011.

I think we would definitely take him if he's there at 8 for a variety of reasons.

He probably hasn't worked out with them because he isn't expected to fall that far. It could wind up being a Brandon Knight type situation where he unexpectedly drops and we pick him despite never having worked him out, but I'd be surprised if NONE of those 3 teams (Suns, Kings, Pelicans) goes for him.

Did Monroe or Drummond work out for us?

I wouldn't mind taking him...I think a Burke/Knight back-court could work...Hopefully Knight is hitting the weight room this summer...

Joe went to a private Drummond workout before the draft. Moose and Knight did not work out for us I believe.

I like Burke alot and we shouldn't hesitate if he's there at 8 but I'm really starting to like McCollum. How do they compare?

I really hope someone takes Burke before we pick and if not then Dumars should pass. Not a big fan of Burke as I think he lacks size and strength for the position which will lead to a huge disadvantage on D. He struggled to finish over length when he got in the paint and usually settled for contested floaters. It will be much tougher on this level.

Lives by the jumper too often and takes a lot of contested 3's and since he is not a great finisher his speed and quickness to penetrate have less value.

Defensively, he is a poor pick and roll defender as he doesn't fight over the top. He has issues defending bigger and stronger guards so how will he be able to handle them on the NBA level when he will be smaller than his man every night. With him being smaller he struggles to keep them out of the paint.

If Burke falls, I think he's a no brainer. Otherwise, take Shabazz and run.

Knight is a SG at heart and that what he needs to be used as. Put Burke at point and let Knight focus on scoring instead of not-assisting

As for the thread, do not want. I don't want to restart at the PG spot with an undersized PG and I'd soon settle for MCW before I even consider Burke.

Like I said, I get how a Pistons board full of people from Mich would display Trey Burke fandom. Its cool.

if everything is true about the organizations desire to go forward with MCW, then Burke has to be very much in play as he's the better player of the 2

The Burkites were out in full force on draft night, but I don't know what NBA players they have in mind when thinking Burke will be a great player in this league.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a huge Burke guy, and the point of this isn't too defend Burke. But why do you need a comparison to see how a player can succeed? Who exactly does Dirk compare to? Every other guy that's like him-- tall white guy shooter who's not explosive-- isn't awesome, but he's good enough at what he's good at to be a great player. You just need to be effective and there are myriad ways to do that. I'm not saying Burke would be great but it's annoying when people say "how can Burke be better than J Nelson?" and think they've ended the discussion. How could Dirk be better than Ryan Anderson? He just is, has a few moves he can rely on and then takes what the d gives him. How is a no-longer-especially-quick CP3 better than any other point guard currently playing?

Dirk is the exception, not the rule. Trey burke is not some sort of transcending prospect that will break the mold.
