Well sorry but it has to be done :D

With Dwight Howard and Chris Paul wanting to play together, we are the team that can make it happen. All we need is 1 trade.

So, option #1

Detroit Out: Andre Drummond, Kyle Singler, Rodney Stuckey.
Detroit In: Kawhi Leonard.

Draft Shabazz Muhammad at #8 and there we go.

Dwight Howard / Slava Kravtsov
Greg Monroe / Jonas Jerebko
Kawhi Leonard / Khris Middleton
Shabazz Muhammad
Chris Paul / Brandon Knight

Jonas Jerebko $ 4,500,000
Greg Monroe $ 4,086,454
Brandon Knight $ 2,793,960
Shabazz Muhammad $ 2,136,100
Kawhi Leonard $ 1,887,840
Slava Kravtsov $ 1,500,000
Khris Middleton $ 788,872

Dwight Howard $20,513,178
Chris Paul $18,668,431

$56,874,835 + 3 cap holds put us just below the 58,5 Salary Cap.

Sign a bunch of veterans and you're a contender for the foresee future.

I'll post a 2nd option with Charlotte below.

Gerald Henderson / Shabazz Muhammad / Khris Middleton

So we finally get to the option #4

Rodney Stuckey $ 8,500,000
Jonas Jerebko $ 4,500,000
Greg Monroe $ 4,086,454
Brandon Knight $ 2,793,960
Andre Drummond $ 2,462,400
Shabazz Muhammad $ 2,136,100
Slava Kravtsov $ 1,500,000
Kyle Singler $ 1,045,000
Khris Middleton $ 788,872

$27,812,786

Sign Dwight Howard to a max deal

Dwight Howard $20,513,178

Offer Stuckey's expiring + Shabazz Muhammad + Khris Middleton + 3 million (it's LAC after all) and a future 1st (2017?2018 I don't know) in a sing and trade for Chris Paul and Willie Green.

Chris Paul $18,668,431
Willie Green $1,399,507

$56,989,302 + 3 cap holds

Dwight Howard / Andre Drummond / Slava Kravtsov
Greg Monroe / Jonas Jerebko
Kyle Singler /
Willie Green /
Chris Paul / Brandon Knight

And you add the usual ring chasers.

I'd rather just sign CP3 and tell him we're trading for howard but don't. He'll be upset initially but then he'll fall in love with Dre and Moose and be happy.
Then we all live happily ever after with our rings.
done.

IF we're going to ignore reality and think these guys would sign here, then I'd rather just sign CP3 and keep Drummond over Dwight.

I'll take CP3, but I'll pass D12. I'd prefer Drum.

Since this is fantasy, does any one think:

CP3
Mayo
Chandler
Monroe
Drummond

Would that be a contender in the East?

How much cap space do we get simply by paying Stuckey to go away and amnestying CV?

I don't want this clown Howard anywhere near our young core.

The point is, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard want to play together. The only way you get Chris Paul is if you also get Howard, and that's why I made this thread.

Not going to happen but Detroit is one of the only 2 teams that can make it happen, the other team is Houston but they also need to get creative (even more than Detroit).

Lakers and Clippers are not going to negotiate a sign and trade with each other that's for sure.

ImHeisenberg wrote:I'll take CP3, but I'll pass D12. I'd prefer Drum.

So do I but once again, the main point is CP3 reportedly wanting to play with D12.

We would be ~6 million short of offering both Howard and Paul max deals. Even if we dump Stuckey's full contract we'd still be short.

I was thinking that if Dwight/CP3 doesn't pan out....maybe we could sell CP3 to the idea of joining forces with Iggy instead -- and of course Monroe and Drummond too.

CP3
#8 pick
Iggy
Monroe
Drummond

Na you missed mine  I know it won't happen. Or do you think I'm (Please Use More Appropriate Word)? We just hired Mo Cheeks to be our head coach.

Lol. Iggy is a meh player. CP3 would only leave the Clippers to play with Howard. He would be leaving a hell lot of money on the table to do that. I bet if they can't find a way to join a team together they'll both be back to LAL and LAC.

Houston has a GM who is proven to not be afraid of do moves and if he sees a real possibility to sign Howard and Paul he will likely get it done.

It will be no easy task, he needs to find an owner willing to pay 15 million for Lin and 15 million for Asik and he has little to no incentive to add for an owner to do that.

And for the record, Iggy's max salary is $16,402,500, So for you "idea", waiving Stuckey and Slava and trading Singler without get any salary back would probably be enough to add Iggy and CP3.
