Grantland "job interview" Burke/McCollum

Grantland uploaded these a few hours ago. Simmons and Rose essentially treat it like a job interview and Simmons didn't pull too many punches, asking Burke about his lack of size.
I know there are a lot of "Burkites" here, so I figured you'd enjoy it. They also have one of CJ McCollum up as well. I'll post links to both.
The Trey Burke interview can be found
here.
The McCollum one is
here.

Thanks for this. If we do draft Burke, I'll hope for the best and hope I'm wrong....but Knight would have to go.

Anytime, CGC.
I'm with you, they're both entertaining videos in the least. I was surprised by how high McCollum's basketball IQ was.
Whomever is drafted, I hope they aren't a bust as well. If we did take someone like Burke, Knight wouldn't have to go. But, I wouldn't like the idea of both of them starting. Odds are, it won't be an issue because Burke isn't likely to last that long.

If we draft Burke I will root for him but I dont think he fits this team AT ALL. The best case scenario for the Pistons is if Burke and MCW both go in top 7.

Yeah in today's NBA, quality point guards are everywhere.
1. Paul
2. Westbrook
3. Parker
4. Curry
5. Rondo
6. Williams
7. Wall
8. Irving
9. Holliday
10. Lawson
11. Conley
12. Bledsoe
13. Lillard
14. Jennings
15. Rubio
That's 15 all star caliber point guards and only one of them is over 30 and 3 over 25. We can get one of these guys in free agency if necessary. Why use a pick on a point guard when we've only given our current one 2 seasons?

Can you imagine how much our backcourt would get punished nightly with Burke at the 1 and Knight at the 2? I would rather give Cheeks a chance to work with Knight and see if he can become a solid player. Heck, I would much rather have Monta Ellis signed as our PG than draft Burke. I think he is going to be such a bust.

This guy McCullum sounds like he may have some Piston blood in him...I'm really starting to become a fan of this dude...

I'm not a Burke hater, just a doubter. I'll follow him due to his U of M career there, but I don't believe he's the fit for Detroit.
CJ was in a position very similar to Shabazz, where they were the designated scorers for their teams. So, I question CJ's passing, but then again, they needed him to look for his shot first and foremost.
Flipping back to the Shabazz thing, Jay Bilas did a short podcast with Bleacher Report, and when the interviewer mentioned Shabazz's low assist numbers Bilas cut him off to correct him, saying that UCLA's entire system was about putting Shabazz in a position to score, they weren't looking for him to pass the ball once he got a hold of it.
If you want to hear the full 18 minute podcast, you can listen to it
here.

The Burke interview would have been way better without Jalen.

I agree. But, what can you expect? He has a lot of love for his alma mater. You can't knock him for it.

Definitely, I think Mccollum has that Piston DNA. Hard worker, high character, high basketball IQ, and he can flat out play. I wouldnt be mad if he ended up being our pick.

I like the basketball IQ of McCollum. Seems like he would be a perfect on a Pistons team. He would bring hard work and bring leadership to a Piston team lacking it. McCollum and Knight backcourt would be fun to watch.

They'd be great for spacing the floor on offense, but a disaster on defense.
But, you can't necessarily draft with relation to your roster. If McCollum is the BPA (in Joe's opinion), they have to take him and figure it out afterwards.

We know Knight can hold his own defensively, if McCullum can hold his own defensively our back-court could have amazing potential...

Knight is okay against point guards, shooting guards are little too much for him.

^That's why I'm hoping Knight has plans to eat, sleep, sh*t, and shower in the weight room this summer...If he gains some muscle he'll be able to handle guarding 2's more often...
