Part of me wonders what Darko would have become if we allowed him to be a Dirk-like stretch 4.

Instead, we seemed hell-bent on trying to force him to bulk up in order to be be a back-to-the-basket 5. I remember many occasions where LB screamed at him for not being in the paint -- which is odd because dude never played.

Oh well....

C'mon, I remember just about every poster here acting like Darko was the next Wilt. Every time I trashed the Darko pick, I got screamed at by just about everyone here.

Darko's problem is that he had mad agility and potential skill, but was dumb as a freaking post. It wasn't that he couldn't jump, but he didn't know when to jump. And, he was soft as ice cream. Just google Human Victory Cigar.

Yes we missed out on some great players that may or may not have even stuck around. It's been 10 years lets move on shall we.

The biggest failure on Joe D's part was not realizing LB would wreck any rookie who couldn't handle him mentally/emotionally. Putting a kid straight out of Europe and into LB's crosshairs was a ridiculous move.

I'm ok with this article. I think we've all accepted it was a mistake for a long time now, and most of us have moved on. It was an interesting look at the events leading up to the pick, and somewhat comforting that we weren't the only ones blown away by his workout.

It was a mistake that many others would have likely made in our position. For me i've let the past go. Everyone makes mistakes, the article was more about the overall behind the scenes story of that draft being fascinating.

I make myself feel better by Saying Bosh or Melo would have left anyway.

Even if Darko panned out, it wouldn't have changed much.

That era Piston team earned their one title and deserved it. Then they became a bunch of arrogant pricks and would have never won another title anyway, no matter who was on the team. I watched it all in person.

Getting the one title definitely erased the pain.

I couldn't imagine how frustrating it would have been had we never won a title and gotten knocked off by Wade and Lebron every year.

Guys. Calm down. We missed out on 2003. But we made it up for 2012 with Drummond. We're even.

what if Memphis hadn't risen in the lottery? Denver or whoever stayed at 2 takes Darko and we get an impact player. Damn Lottery..
