With FA 6 days away why no thread for this I also find it funny that when it come to trades or fa we linked to nothing

Agree... this should get twice the attention of the draft maybes

I know the Bulls would be less than eager to engage a division rival in a trade, but any reason we don't go after Deng? If we're not thrilled with our options in the lottery, don't have a desire to trade up and have a glaring need at SF, why not make an offer? Take Deng, unload Singler and/or Stuckey and then take Crabbe or some other SG at #20.

I guess a lot depends on who we draft before we talk about realistic targets, etc. But ill name a few players that I would like to see the team look at.

1. Iggy
2. Monta Ellis
3. Jarrett Jack
4. JJ Hickson
5. Kyle Korver

1. Iggy would be an excellent addition due to his defense, rebounding, passing, and he can score. He would be the type of player that fills the stat sheet and makes others around him better. I also believe he would provide a veteran presence on the court and a class act off the court. The only concerns I have is length of contract, other than that we could have a potentially very good defensive starting unit. If we signed Iggy we would HAVE to draft a sharpshooter or sign one via FA.

2. Monta Ellis has incredible quickness and leaping ability. Runs the floor as fast as anyone in the game. Can score in many ways. Has fully transitioned his offensive game to the NBA, and isnt afraid to take contact in the lane. I think he would be fun to watch with a group that features Andre Drummond but his defense is mediocre at best. Attitude could be a problem too but as far as talent he is one of the top free agents out there.

3. Jarrett Jack has very good PG skills; good court vision, nice ball-handling skills with both hands, and the size to see over the top of defenses. Jack plays the game with extreme confidence and is a natural leader. Very good shot selection, love his defense, and scoring ability. Would make a great defensive unit if we were composed of Jack, Drafted SG, Iggy, Monroe, and Drummond.

4. JJ Hickson would be a very nice big to have come off the bench as your third big but will he be looking for a starting gig?

5. Kyle Korver is a shooter, plain and simple. Doesnt do anything else tha makes you say wow, but he knows his job and does it well. With Drummond and Monroe we need shooters and Korver fits the bill.

IMO the impact on the team short and long term will be..

7)CV's karate kicks
8)Drummond's FT coach
9)Phil Jackson's recommendations
10)The draft pick

We have 5 days to decide if Stuckey is worth keeping at full price or saving 4.5M by releasing him.

Al-Farouq Aminu
Brandan Wright

Trade targets:

Eric Gordon, #13 pick (attached to Marion), Thomas Robinson, Mike Conley (if Memphis gets cheap), Rajon Rondo (if Boston blows it up)

I don't see any reason to waste money on anyone over 25.

I find it very important to add a veteran presence to this group. The entire locker room has been in a losing environment most if not all of their careers and I believe it is very critical to add a piece like Iggy or Jack who have played in meaningful games since college. The leadership that a vet, who is more than a bench warmer, can provide is also important since this group hasn't exactly had any leaders since Billups was traded. So count me in the group who is willing to sign Iggy or Jack over a bunch of kids. I actually want to win games this season.

And I want to win Championship(S). You can believe in the power of limited short term success making everyone feel better (and giving our draft pick to Charlotte), that's fine, I get it. I believe in talent acquisition, creating a competitive atmosphere where guys battle in practice every day to earn their pt, take their lumps and eventually learn to win after getting sick of losing. We can agree to disagree.

I think the Iggy/Jack point is moot. They are in the win now mode of their careers, places like Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Denver or Golden State can sign them, offer them a chance to win now and live in better locations. Given that Igoudala stands to either make more money in Denver or have his choice of Texas team in a better winning situation I don't think we'd get past a courtesy meeting.

This team needs shooters. How about we trade Charlotte a future first round pick for Ben Gordon's expiring contract?

It was the Cavs offering the #1 and 19 picks for Aldridge, not the Blazers trying to get the #1 and 19 picks from Cleveland.

I understood that part... I'm assuming since the Cavs made the offer in the first place that LA was available at the right price and not untouchable... unless the Cavs are just morons

I don't think they're morons they just want to get a feel for any move they can make to get better. It never hurts to ask. For what it's worth I highly doubt that the Blazers trade Aldridge and I haven't seen anything remotely suggesting he's up for grabs.

Nice list, PP. All of them are realistic targets, and would fill a need in some form.

And, Memphis is definitely getting cheap! They just promoted their assistant coach, opposed to even interviewing any of the high profile coaches currently available. I'm guessing we're going to see more roster purging in the coming year or so. But, Randolph is more likely to be moved than Conley, who's on a relatively inexpensive contract compared to what he brings them.

Funny enough, as the coaching carousel begins to slow down, Detroit's chances of getting a guy like Lionel Hollins would have been pretty damn good, as most of the preferred vacancies are filling up. The Nets are the last notable vacancy, and really aren't that appealing as a capped out team.
