He's our last pick according to Ford. Discuss.

Nice. I wanted Kabongo, but you know you're getting serious defensive effort from Siva.
Overall solid draft for Detroit. McLemore sliding to us would have put it over the top.
Also- loving the Simmons and Rivers beef.

I bet this guy agreed to play overseas for a season or two.

Great pick. Potential to be a Lindsey Hunter off the bench as a pest on-ball defender.
This pick with Mitchell really adds much needed athleticism and defense.

Why? We need a backup pg. Calderon isn't coming back, and there's no guarantee on Bynum.

This is a thread about Siva not Brandon Knight.

He's the 56th pick, and we're not going to roll with three rookies, along with five sophomores ie half our roster played one year or are rookies - along with having a new coach putting in a whole new system.

I like him. He's a real PG...good floor general, can throw an alley oop, excellent free throw shooter and good athlete.

I think we took him to keep him, cheapest possible Bynum replacement, a senior.

I wanted a point guard from the national championship game that started at PG. Unfortunately this wasn't the one!

The roster isn't complete yet. No guarantee English returns. No guarantee Singler, or Middleton aren't moved in a trade. And Slava certainly doesn't sit high in any of Detroit's future plans.
I absolutely believe they took Siva because he's a winner, team player, and will be able to contribute off the bench easily.

I'm a Wizards fan and a Louisville alum. I think Siva is going to be a surprisingly good pro. He's got some problems, to wit:
1. Poor 3 point shooter;
2. Occasionally drives into the lane without a plan, resulting in a bad pass or wild shot;
3. A bit undersized.
However, he's athletic, strong, tenacious, intelligent, and hard working. He's got decent court vision. He's easy to root for. He works on his game, and if he ever gets a consistent perimeter shot, he could end up as an outstanding backup/occasional starter. He could perform like Avery Bradley, with slightly better percentages than 2013.
His shot is his biggest problem. I hope to see him in summer league; it will be interesting to see if he's more consistent when not playing full court defense. The tired legs and fatigue affect his shot, just like they affected his opponents.

congrats, great 2nd round pick. was hoping he'd go undrafted so some of my teams could take a look.

Hes gonna be a dog in the pros. His on-ball defense will be his bread and butter. Definitely has the heart and work ethic like a Lindsey Hunter/ Avery Bradley on the defensive end. I can't wait!

The refs like Siva better, so I'm glad we drafted him instead of Burke.
