Capspace has more value in trades than CV's contract does. With so many teams nearing luxury tax territory pure capspace can get you multiple picks simply for taking a 1 year contract back from a team.

If we don't amnesty Charlie V its a clear sign ownership and management don't give a **** about spending money to build assets to turn this team into a contender the next few years.

I like CV for one more year but I see what your saying.. it would be nice to have that extra cap space during the season to take on salary but I cant see Gores paying someone to leave and taking on additional salary

Yes and no. I say no because if you keep him and go into the season with him, you can trade him and take back 125% of his cap hit I believe. Whereas if you amnesty him, you only have 100% of his cap hit to use.

I disagree with OP. It is, in fact, a brainer.

I wanted CV gone for a long time and I'd still be happy without him, BUT it makes no sense to amnesty him until you have a way to use that money lined up. Until a worthy free agent agrees to come here and it takes us over our current spending limit, we should keep him as an asset.

And yes, he is an asset for two reasons:
1)He will have value this upcoming season as an expiring contract.
2) His game complements Drummond's. I personally wouldn't mind seeing the two of them together and see how it works out. Would I rather have Ryan Anderson? Of course. But few players in the NBA can limit CV's deficiencies like Drummond is capable of doing.
