The perfect deal to get Rondo.. Cha - Det - Bos

Post#1 » by Vicissitudes » Tue Jul 2, 2013 11:23 pm

I just posted this in the Celtics board and some will already do this. So here it is :

Cha: gets Monroe, Lee

Det: gets Rondo, Bass

Bos: gets either Stuckey/Knight, CV, either Zeller/Kemba, + 2015 unprotected 1st from Charlotte, 2016 unprotected from Det

Charlotte gets Monroe who they have expressed interest before, who fits nicely beside Zeller/Kemba. If Boston picks Kemba then the cats get a future C, PF tandem in Zeller and Monroe.. or P/R tandem in Monroe, Kemba. Plus Lee who is a solid 6th man.

Detroit gets Rondo, Bass.. Rondo solves the PG situation and eats Bass' not so nice contract.

Boston gets players with significant upside in Knight/Zeller or Kemba/Stuckey + 2 1st round picks and gets to shed salary for a ASAP rebuild back to contention.

Pistons starting 5 after FA: Rondo, KCP, Dorell Wright?, Smith?, Drummond. Bench: you fill it.

or Zeller + 2015, 2016 1st rd.. so Detroit gets to keep the 2016 1st. I don't really mind either way.. Detroits 2016 would be a 20ish pick anyways. Gores can buy another pick for 3mil for all I care..

Moose is the best chip to bait Rondo. And don't get me wrong i'd be fine without Rondo too. but Value for value, this is best case scenario for all teams.

Where are we getting the idea that Monroe is untouchable, because I've yet to see it written anywhere

Its really not though. You simply do not trade a 23 year old bigman unless a superstar is coming back, which Rondo is not. Knight would be the centerpiece in a ROndo trade, not Monroe.

why is CHA even involved?

and DET can not trade that pick as they already have obligations to CHA that could last until then.

Thatts where some disagree that Rondo is a superstar. He's lead the league in assists the last two years straight. He shoots a high % for a PG (48%), he's a threat for a triple double every night, one of the best rebounding guards in the league if not the best, and one of the best defensive PGs in the league. To me only Paul is better and its almost a toss up because Rondo is elite at both ends, not just offense, and he's a proven playoff performer where Paul keeps coming up short. Rondo is a superstar. I'd rather do it for Knight than Monroe too, but.if nec I think I'd trade Moose

It says Boston takes either Stuckey/ Knight from Detroit and same with Zeller/Kemba.

Here is the meaning of either.

ei·ther (r, r)
pron.
The one or the other: Which movie do you want to see? Either will be fine.
conj.
Used before the first of two or more coordinates or clauses linked by or: Either we go now or we remain here forever.
adj.
1. Any one of two; one or the other: Wear either coat.

Cha is invloved because I've read somewhere that Cha were interested in Monroe somewhere before. According to Boston fans, they don't want Monroe because hes an RFA next year. They'd rather have picks than getting him. And most likely CHA is getting the 2015 Pistons pick anyways since its top 1 protected and besides the fact that we will most likely lose our pick next year if we go after a big name in free agency.

I agree that Rondo is superstar but IMO CP3, Tony Parker, Westbrook, Rose & maybe Deron > Rondo

"Superstar" Rajon Rondo is the reason for that great Boston offense right? Well, that offense has been ranked in the 20s the past couple of years in efficiency. Sure he can wow you with his amazing assists rates, but if you look deeper and watch the Celtics play, Rondo is overrated.

and that 16 pick as of right now can NOT be traded

IF our obligation to CHA is fulfilled in 14 THEN it will become available as an asset. As of now the earliest we can legally trade is 18.

Sure but I took offense on your first post. Sorry you found it complicated while the others didn't. And I made my best effort to make my OP as clear and short as possible.

Rondo is intriguing but you do not give up a budding Allstar for a guy who has not proven he can come back from an ACL injury. BK would definitely be the center piece for any potential trade here.

complicated as in involving a 3rd team that just does not need to be involved.

IMO Ainge would gladly take Monroe back over Zeller even with Moose being RFA next season.

that being said... I have no interest in trading away Moose to get Rondo
