I seriously do not understand the point of running out and signing NON-fits to the line-up. I am in no way against acquiring better talent, but only if it is a clear upgrade, and only if it is the perfect situation. Being in a hurry to win is how you end up like the Nets or the Raptors. You cannot rush success and you cannot rush victory. Waiting for the right fit or the right piece while acquiring talent is how you end up like the Rockets, OKC, and the GSW. Blowing our load entirely too early not only makes the entire painful rebuilding process completely useless and a waste of time, but also starts a new one. I guess my one message to everyone would be to "calm down." I know it's been a long rebuild, and I know it has been painful, but we are on the precipice of wasting suffering, or channeling it into something grand. I don't care how much you like Smith, he isn't a SF.

Who do you propose we wait for? We're not getting a top pick this year and more than likely a pick at all. I'm not saying we offer a 30 year old Iguodala the max, but we need to make some moves this year.

This franchise is NOTHING like GSW..only 2 playoff appearances in 20 years, what a joke. They're going to blow it again like they did in 07 by being cheap and not keeping their guys.

5th most championships since the 80s? You cant think small market eventhough you are small market. Not everyone can get a Tim Duncan for 15 years eventhough we may have a cornerstone player in Drummond.

The young guns need to see playoff failures and reg season success in order to progress.

To be fair, the Rockets were in the process of a long rebuild until Harden literally fell into their laps for almost nothing. That made them playoff material, but they need one maybe two pieces in order to be a contender.

it seems to me like the only thing Gores and co. are worried about is getting a big name to sell to fans.

I wouldn't say I'm in a rush to win, but I do think we need to start getting better theough places other than the draft.I think Monroe is a great player, but I just dont know where we are going with the 2 of them. Sure they could become the best frontcourt in the league, but is that enough.Now if you think Monroe, is a big that is going to the be the key piece to lead us into contendership than that's one thing. But to be honest we need another elite player, we probally are too good to get one in the draft, so I'm confused on how we are going to get one. It's always going to look like we can't win the championship as long as Lebron is on a different team, it's the same as Jordan. So unless you want to be in the lottery or 7/8th seed for the next 8 or so years during Lebrons peak, we eventually have to go in for a top 4 seed. I think what has ruined us the mot is continually getting 7-8-9 picks. Next year if we stay with the same roster I can see probally 12-13-14-15 pick. So i don't know how you guys eventually want to win. The fact that we don't have a player like Lebron,Kobe,Duncan, Durant makes it very hard to contend.

The Pistons are clearly headed in this direction.

Every single thing about what we've been shown to be trying to do is in the name of "winning now".

I'm sure there are those among us who would have no problem waiting, but its a moot point.

I'm not against getting A Chauncey, a Rip, or a Sheed in any way, shape, or form. I just think the need for, and lack of, success is blinding people, and most notably Dumars. You just don't trade bigs for Point Guards, you don't trade post players for nonshooters coming off of ACL injuries. You don't get players that are delusional about their skillsets when you already have that need filled.

What we said all along in the draft is "we need shooters around Monroe and Drummond." So the first thing we do is go after nonshooters with huge contracts? I would be so much happier bringing in Dorrell Wright on a 4 million dollar contract than Smith on a 12 million dollar contract. I'm not against bringing in better players, I'm against bringing in big names simply because they're big names, gambling away our future on Rondo, and locking up our capspace for another 3-4 years for non essential, useless "nonfits."

Well, I for one am sick of watching us lose. But I agree with your general idea that I don't want to sign guys who don't fit here for the sake of adding 5-10 wins by hurting us long term.

As far as I'm concerned, Moose/Drummond are pretty close to untradeable. Obviously nobody outside of LeBron/KD is truly "untradeable" but Moose/Dre are two guys that I am leaving out of trade talks if I am a GM. If you have a chance to significantly improve the team, this is a business...you obviously do that. But I don't feel that we will be able to get equal value for either of Moose/Dre.

I really don't think I will be able to handle another lottery bound season, as a fan...I'm also tired of showing up to games where the arena is so empty that you can sneak down to the 15th row.

Because Gores doesn't understand how NBA basketball works and how franchises are built. Because Joe wants to save his job. Because NBA people are like kids--they love stars and big names and don't get how 5 guys together on a court work. Because there's a kind of macho thing in the NBA about bossing up, even if the move you're making is obviously short sighted and stupid. Because Andre Bargnani just got traded for a first round pick. Because for fans, there's already been three plus years of rebuilding, but for Joe and Gores we've been standing tall and going for it every year since we lost to the spurs in the finals.

Same reason a lot of sports fans throw around the idiotic phrase "bust" after 1 year or come to conclusions about players after 3 months.
