WT: Will Bynum says he's likely to Resign

The Detroit Pistons and Will Bynum have mutual interest to complete a new contract.
Bynum has said the hiring of Mo Cheeks makes it more likely that he will return to the Pistons.
Bynum averaged almost 10 points last season.
I wonder what this would mean? Would he be our sole backup PG?

this doesnt make sense. calderon or mayo should definitely be in front of will. we only need 4 guards, and with knight, kcp and stuckey on the roster, bynum does not fit. i do get the feeling calderon is going to be chased by the kings now that they arent going to be getting iggy which they were rumoured to be doing before the igoudala situation blew up. that leaves us with either signing mayo and having stuckey at backup point or signing a PG like bynum and leaving stuckey as backup 2.
personally, ive had enough of bynum for a while, id prefer we left him alone for now.

I prefer Calderon back but Will is a good role player. It's hard to make it to Playoffs with only Knight.

Id rather have siva be our backup/3rd pg then resign will and its cheaper.

I really like Bynum, no matter how frustrating his hero ball can be at times, you can't deny the heart and passion that he plays with. With that said, I don't want him back. We've got Knight, Stuck, Siva and Calderon (who apparently we are trying to re-sign) who are all capable of handling the PG duties. He is getting older and I think it would be good for him to go and play as a sparkplug off the bench for a contender. But maybe he's settled and happy in Detroit?

Also reported that Chicago had shown interest in him, let's hope they snap him up (unsure if their salary cap situation allows them to make a decent offer though).

wow, if we go into the season with Knight/Bynum at PG we can waive the white flag already. Will might be a nice backup for a team with a legitimate starting PG, well thats not the case here.
Knight should be the backup PG right now, until he proves he is worthy to start. We need a real starting PG, i wonder why no one talkes about Teague, proven starting PG, still young, can score, pass and defend. At least try to get him before we settle for Bynomite.

Bynum may want to resign here, but I don't know if we want him to.

Yup.
Pistons management needs to start letting these below average players leave the team. How long are we going to hang on to these useless stat stuffers?

So basically Joe swung at Josh Smith, Andre Igoudala and Tyreke Evans. No one said yes right away so he swung at Rondo and Gay in trades, no one said yes right away to that, so now we bring back Bynum & Maxiell.

Offer Stuckey and CV an extension as well?

I don't hate this, it means Stuckey will be move and means Calderon isn't back.

If it means we're not giving Calderon more than MLE money I don't mind it.
Most likely would be a 2 or 3 year deal at $2-$3 million per season.

im tired seeing bynum in a piston jersey. at this point detroit should look far away from resigning either will or maxiell and get a vet proven pg and c/pf from free agency instead.

yeah, i can see it being 4-5mil per yr, but thats not too bad for a really nice offensive PG. knight has to be the one getting the most minutes though, we need to try and make him our future.

I'd be happy if we resigned Bynum. He gets too much flack, imo. His hero ball can be very frustrating, but I still maintain it had more to do with who he was on the court with than anything else. If he plays with more shooters (Singler, Middleton, etc.) this time and not Charlie V I expect him to pass a lot more. Also, for anyone who's a strong believer in PER, Bynum is an above average player.

Bynum is actually one of the better backup PG in the league. But he's consistently been a bad fit for this team due to how bad we've bad. We desperately need somebody who makes the players around him better, not somebody who will iso in a "sparkplug" type role and his style of play has been somewhat redundant with the guys already on our roster. He'd be a great pickup for a number of other teams.
