Iggy to GS (done)

Kevin (New York)
Woj just tweeted that Iguodala signed with Golden State and that GS sent Jefferson and Biedrins to Utah in a trade. This takes them out of the Howard sweepstakes right?
Kevin Pelton (4:08 PM)
No, they could still offer Barnes + Bogut (some picks depending how many they gave Utah) in a sign-and-trade.
Good thing - I didn't want Iggy anyway.

Woj says the Warriors are now out of the Dwight hunt.
Not that it matters to us.

FWIW, Iguodala says he does not know what Howard is going to do: "If he comes to Golden State as well, it's going to be even scarier."
I'd say they're likely out of dwight sweepstakes, but not necessarily.

I'm still not clear what went to Utah, and still VERY interested if Barnes is available from GS.

Curry, Klay, Iggy, Barnes and Bogut. There's the starting 5. Basically substituting Jarret Jack for Iggy. They ain't trading anyone.

If Barnes is available it will be to the Lakers along with Bogut and a first rounder in a sign and trade for Howard. If Howard chooses Houston, than they keep Barnes.

Woj: Golden State is sending multiple draft picks to Utah to unload the $24 million, including 2014 first-rounder, sources tell Y!
Look how quickly GS was able to make room on their roster to sign a top FA once there was mutual interest. Looks like Joe might really regret giving up that pick to clear Gordon. Wish he could've waited and pulled something like GS just did, once he knew who he wanted to sign.

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 3m
Denver offered Andre Iguodala a 4-year, $52M deal -- as well as 5-year scenarios -- before he accepted Warriors deal, sources tell Y!

I don't agree. I think Iggy would have been a BAD signing for us - we're building a team, not trying to get to the Finals. GSW are ready to give that a push, so good for them. We need to find out how to get someone younger like Harrison Barnes. This whole deal does not reflect badly on Dumars, and Utah didn't get anything great out of this deal either (a very late first next year?)

I'm not saying he should've paid that much for Iggy or signed him specifically, but all of our extra cap room we rushed to get for this summer could very well not be worth it. It would appear he could've been more patient with our pick.
We are in position to take on salary to add some like Harrison though.

^I think the point is that we had Gordon as a large expiring contract and we could have met with free agents and made something happen with that contract once mutual interest was established.
There was no need to unload it for a pick a year ahead of time even IF we had a shot at some of these guys, which we've clearly seen we dont.

Hopefully we still have some time. As some of these teams like Utah use their extra cap space, our cap space becomes more valuable. Hopefully we leverage it at some point and get a young wing player to add to our core.

I agree and I'm not hitting the panic button yet, it is growing somewhat concerning though

Sooooo, you're saying wait until this summer and offload Gordon and a 2014 first to sign a free agent? Dafuq's the difference?

The difference is if there is no one we like in free agency, we can keep our pick and hang on to the expiring contract
