Poll: Can Josh Smith Be Our SF

Lots of Debate in the signing thread. Let's get it in poll form. A lot of folks want to go after Gay it seems, but the way Gay is shooting seems to be a bit of a myth.
-Last year among SFs, Josh Smith was the 3rd best finisher behind Lebron and Tayshaun (

).
- From 3-9 feet he was above average for a SF starter, shooting 39.4%. Rudy Gay, Melo, Paul George, Pierce are all below him here
- From 16-23 feet he shot 33%. Gay shot 27%, Parsons 34%, Lebron/Melo 44%.
- From 3, he shot an eFG% of 44.7%. Gay shot 46.5%.

Smith will spend equal time at the 3/4. I see rotations where he plays with Singler (or a FA) and Monroe, and then I see other times where he plays the 3 alongside CV and Drummond.
Smith makes us incredibly versatile. He's a compliment to Monroe and Drummond not a substitute.

I did not vote. I would have voted for:
"He can play spot minutes there (at SF), but is best-suited to be a PF.

From 13.566765 ft Josh Smith shot a league leading 100% from the field last year.

I'd give it a month before theres any legit talk of Drummond coming off the bench, or Monroe getting traded.

People want a catch and shoot guy at the 2 and 3 spots. If you don't have the mechanics you get considered as a bum right away. The thing is, Smoove doesn't have that sweet of a shot, but we all know he is capable of knocking them down. Consistency will come through practice, and I hope thats exactly what he's gonna do. Prove them haters wrong

My choice isn't up there.
You need a : "No, but if we trade one of our two franchise pieces just because we signed this guy I'll cry" option.

We have no other choice. Lets stack the front court and see how well they do.

Agreed, I like Monroe and Drummond better than Smith so let's hope we can keep them both

How does this not work?
Smith (16)/
Monroe(16)/Smith (16)
Drummond(32)Monroe (16)

I completely agree with this. If we still have CV on the roster by the time the season starts I expect to see him get some minutes while JS is on the floor and I think they could work well together. I would imagine Drummond only gets 20-25 minutes for most of the season, so I don't see Drummond/Monroe/Smith playing much more than the first 5-8 minutes together anyway.

Drummond is getting 30+ next season.

Right now it doesnt matter because Drummond is still a youngster
When Drummond fully develops, 2 years, somebody will leave.
Book it, and the price will be low because the player will be undervalued because of this signing.

I cant think of 1 successful 3 that shot 27% outside of the paint.
but maybe we can be the first.

Smith shot 33% from 16 feet to 3pt range and 30% from 3pt range. His 10 feet to 16 feet numbers are abysmal but that's the range he also had the fewest attempts by far.

Not sure if you're one of the MKG fans, but if so I'd be surprised if he shot better than that from outside the paint.

27% outside of the paint man.
even with your modified #s, 31.5 % from 16 feet on.
