Wondering who will pick up amnested MWP?

Post#1 » by Dre Drummond » Tue Jul 9, 2013 12:11 am

Looks like the Lakers plan to amnesty MWP. It will be interesting to see what team with capspace will put at least a min bid in for him. Remember, for amnestied players only teams with cap space can bid.

Any ideas on what teams with capspace might be interested? Cavs, Hawks, or Bucks all seem possible and all could increase our competition for the playoffs a bit.

I figure there will be no bids and he'll be a FA and then sign for the MMLE somewhere on a capped out team.

If the Pelicans have any cap space then he could be a decent fit there. They need a SF pretty badly.

Tyreke Evans and Aminu are there. They should be set at SF.

Sacramento or Minnesota seem like good fits, IMO

I read that New Orleans went all-in on Evans when he agreed to be the third guard so I doubt they have big plans for him at SF. Aminu is a decent backup.

We should submit a bid. We could bid the minimum salary and if no one else bids, he's ours and the Lakers pay the difference. He maybe crazy, but he is an awesome defender and actually pretty good on offense. Not what he used to be, but for the min, and to backup JSmooth? Our defense would be sick.

I'd submit a bid. Then deactivate him. Or maybe send him down to the D-League. **** Artest and his dumbass new name. I can't believe we are actually caring where this douche ends up.

It would be the first case of a player getting booed by all the fans of his own team every time he touches the ball.

Man, after Malice, is it even safe to bring him as part of the team? Then again, attendance isn't what it used to be, so it may actually be safe. Lol.

Someone will give a mill for him. Too good defensively not too. Would Detroit to get him. Would upgrade us defensively. Could start at SG for us.

Err, yeah.

Absolutely not. Metta playing for the Pistons is one of the worst ideas ever conceived in the long history of professional basketball.

As for where he ends up, honestly I have no idea. Somebody will take a flyer I'm sure. I'm actually surprised he stayed on the Lakers as long as he did.
