Will Bynum 2 Years, 5.75M

So he is signed. Will never be a starter, but a solid team player. I think Joe overpaid, but it does make sure we have a real bench. With Stuckey on contract, I doubt we get another free agent PG unless it is a sign/trade. Our roster is getting closer to complete.

Would have rather sent a future 2nd rounder to Minnesota for Ridnour, but 2 years, $5.75 mil isn't gonna break the bank.

Really hope Cheeks and staff can convince Bynumite to be more of a distributor than a scorer....but not a terrible re-signing.

I hate this signing. I think he rots on the bench while Stuckey carries the backup PG duties. We need a cheap backup SG and C and we will be set.

I like him to be our back up SG. And then we can see if we can sign some vets (Foye or Billups) to fulfill the PG spot, I would sign Anthony Morrow to be our SF. Let's see how this play out and then try to trade our expiring contracts for some talent

Are you kidding me?

I thought 3 other teams had interest in this guy. How did we end up resigning him yet again?

Ugh...

He's actually a point guard. One that stops the ball a lot, but a point guard nonetheless.

I just wish he could shoot.

Good insurance.

Don't mind if he's an insurance 4th guard.

i wish he went to Chicago.
I like him as a person, but he doesn't fit in Detroit. Going to Chicago would have been good for him because he'd be home and he'd be contending.
I hope siva still gets a crack at making the rotation after this signing.

Why do I have a feeling that Joe outbid himself again?

There are going to be injuries during the season, having a player like bynum that can do a decent job filling in for a time at this price is nice

Just repeating myself, but....

Bynum is one of the better backup PG in the league...and a bad fit for this roster. But I'd rather focus on the positives, so at least we know what we're getting, Bynum will accept his role and he is a capable spark plug off the bench.

Not loving the move since it's overpaying for a guy who isn't a great fit, but at least he's not D-League trash. He's got some talent and will likely win a couple games for us.

Lolz. Good ol Joe. Loves to overpay his own players, even if they don't fit.

How is bynum not a good fit with everything he accomplished with Dre. Additionally how is this a overpay?

They did this ass backwards. Should've spent the 8 mil first and then just used the 2.6 mil exception for Bynum. Now instead of being able to sign a starter in the 7-8 range, we are relegated to at best one average player on a 5 mil deal and two 3 mil scrubs.

Hopefully because its just an agreement they still agree to an 8 mil deal with someone else, and then just sign that deal first, have it qualify within the rules, and then still get the extra exception for Bynums deal.

After the Smith signing, most reports said the Pistons weren't done and still had big moves planned. Resigning Bynum better not be all they are doing.

I really hope this doesn't mean Joe's not gonna go after Chauncey... If Bynum gets just under 3 a year I'd give Chauncey just over 3 a year on a 2 yr deal... 2 yrs/7 mil
