Pistons 2013-14 SGs are...

Ugh. Looks like
- Stuckey
- KCP
- Singler
- Bynum/Knight in a pinch
Monte Ellis is still available - wonder if we could get Milwaukee to do a sign/trade - we give them Stuckey plus $3M cash, and we sign Ellis to a couple of years, up to the 8.5M that we're paying Stuckey.
I would love to get Afflalo at this point. Maybe same kind of deal?
Any other suggestions for SG?

We desperately need another ball handler/scorer like Monta.

Yeah, until (unless) KCP develops we're still looking like a disaster at that particular spot.
Can't improve on everything all at once, but we desperately need a consistent outside threat there. We've got some expirings and other things available, maybe we'll luck out and someone will be available near the deadline or something.

Space Pope might not be ready, but at the same time you don't want to lock him behind a newly minted four year contract of a Monta Ellis. If we could trade for a starting caliber vet on a two years remaining deal, that would be ideal.

Isn't Datome a SG?

I'm guessing Middleton is the primary back-up SG. "3 and D" and all that stuff
Assuming we didn't sign Datome to get splinters dude will play 10-14 minutes at SF, at least early in the season so we can see what he actually brings to the table
Drummond 30, Monroe 18
Monroe 16, Smith 18, CV 14
Smith 16, Singler 20, Datome 12
K.C.P 26, Middleton 14, Stuckey 8
Knight 30, Stuckey 18
We showcase both CV and Stuckey for trade... see what we have in Datome... use Middleton for his shooting and I think Singler will be a favourite of Cheeks
I'd love to see Mitchell get some minutes... just not sure why we signed Datome if he's gonna ride the pine

I have a feeling KCP will be off the bench, so Stuckey I guess starts. Singler could be back-up if he is moved. Puke city all around

If Dallas needs to clear space for Bynum offer, what about Vince Carter on his expiring deal?

Monta Ellis, one of the premier free agents remaining on the market, has whittled his list to four teams and is hoping to choose his destination within the next 36 to 48 hours, a source close to the situation said on Tuesday.
Ellis has pared his list to the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Bobcats.
Looks like it won't be Ellis.

Damn. Monta will surprise folks. I think it's time to make a real costly move. Take on Perkins to get Jackson. Give up Stuckey/Singler.

Hopefully this is our SG depth chart:
KCP/Stuck/Middleton
If Stuckey starts our spacing is going to beyond abysmal.

Did you listen to the BS Report yesterday? Simmons and Lowe were joking about how Perkins has the worst contract in the NBA and how he can't catch the ball and pivot

I don't Reggie Jackson is worth that.

Drummond, Monroe, Smith, Stuckey and Knight would have terrible spacing...
but defensively that's probably our best line-up!
Start the game with D and bring the shooters off the bench?
I think our goal should be to destroy teams defensively, own our defensive glass and run like hell!

We'd have to try something like that.
We certainly aren't going to be able to do anything in the half court with that kind of spacing....

Joe - if we dump Stuckey for a SG our only PGs would be Knight, Bynum and Siva.
No offense to his fans but Siva isn't going to get minutes and if he does we're in big trouble.
Bynum is what he is... a great spark plug that can push the pace but in the halfcourt he can turn into ISO-boy and that's just painful
Holding onto Stuckey gives us another option... and also allows us to play Knight off the ball some.
It's not a great solution but I don't think we have enough space to do much else now

Monte Ellis just changed his agent. I think a sign/trade is still a possibility if we think he is the solution.
