I think he'd be the perfect trade target. He doesn't seem to fit in Orlando's long term plans.
What would it take to get him? It would take more than a salary dump. Who can we add with Stuckey? Would we have to take on Al Harringon or Big Fat Baby Davis?

Since they wanted Bledsoe from the Clips, I'm guessing it would cost a first rounder in 2014 (if we had it). We don't have that. Odds are they would want Knight which would be a no go since we don't have a starting point guard. I think the Afflalo to Detroit is done.

Re: Is Afflalo available?
Orlando's GM really likes Afflalo, he targeted him in the Howard trade and is not just going to move him for the sake of moving him.
A good player on a good contract in a position of need, that's incredible value that he is going to hang on to until he thinks can get exactly what he wants back for him. I think the media has blown the notion of "Afflalo will be traded" out of proportion completely.

Re: Is Afflalo available?
Orlando has had Oladipo playing pg in the SL, given they seem to be content to let their young players develop more I assume they are planning a Nelson-Oladipo-Afflalo 3 guard rotation.

Stuckey would make more sense than Afflalo for them because of his ability to play both guard positions.

And Afflalo would make more sense because he's better at basketball and is signed for a few more years on a very friendly deal.

Re: Is Afflalo available?
I woulnd't call $8 million a year friendly for Afflalo. He's a solid role player but he isn't a good enough to be a 2nd option on a good team.
He's like the SG version of Prince to a degree.

Afflalo is overpaid, he's not a good deal and Orlando just drafted his replacement. I think Stuckey and Singler could be enough to get the Magic to bite on the deal. Depends on Scott Perry though, IRC- he's the guy who discovered Stuckey

Stuckey, Singler, Middleton for Afflalo, Q Rich. Buyout Q Rich and sign Siva and Mitchell and a backup center and I think the 6th seed is ours at minimum

Re: Is Afflalo available?
Depends on their mindset, but probably not. Hennigan did target him, probably thinking he could trade him down the line, but his reputation has suffered a lot the last couple years, mostly because he played badly. He was pretty bad on offense and defense last year and was a miserable shooter, and he's had two years of being a worse than average defender. His shooting stats might be forgiven since he was miscast as a creator the last couple years, but I think it may be safe to say his run as a very good defender is over.
But there's no incentive to trade him now. The magic don't have any cap issues, and they're set to be $20m or so under the cap next year. If they're planning on a slow rebuild, they may as well just keep Afflalo around to play the role of responsible veteran. The only reason they'd trade him is if they wanted to get a huge amount of space next off season; if they decide they do, I think they'd wait until the deadline, hope his shooting improves this year, and try to get the best pick or prospect they can for him.
