Andre Drummond switches to #0...

Andre Drummond ‏@DRE_DRUMMOND_ 56s

I will be wearing number 0 this year.. @detroitpistons

So I guess Billups can/did get his #1 back. I dislike the #0 though, and hopefully Drummond doesn't say he picked it because not too many people wear it in the NBA (I'm looking at you Shabazz).

I would have prefered #8 as eight teams passed on him in the draft.

I'm surprised. I thought there was a procedure in place that would require him to wear #1 for at least another season prior to changing it? I guess they circumvented it.

Drummond can't give Billups #1 because a number request has to be submitted to the league by March of the previous season

I wouldn't be. You'd own something more special, like proof you were a fan from day one when 4-5-6 years from now Drummond #0 jerseys are the norm - few would even remember he wore #1 during his rookie season.

There is. But, the league isn't as stubborn about it if they player changing their number isn't a superstar. Drummond, in our minds, is a future star. But, from the league's perspective, they're not as concerned.

LeBron James put in the paper work to change his number to 6 when he was still with the Cavs, and had to wait a year. So, in those cases, they are required to wait.

Why do you keep saying a year? Its MARCH of the previous season. And by the way when a player is traded to a team, there's instances of them getting their # from someone on the team without waiting. I remember Al Jefferson changing from 8 to 7 within a week after Boston traded for Antoine Walker.

I think this show how much more mature Drummond is compared to Stuckey. Stuckey had the chance to do the same when Ben came back and he didn't.

Ben said he didn't want Stuckey's number. Stuckey tried to give it to him.

I don't like 0. It's nice having Billups get number 1 again but I wish Dre went with a different number.

You're the second person in a thread I've seen say this. And as was pointed out, its incorrect. Even if that was the case, there's several other reasons to call him immature. Not offering the number would not be one.

1. Stuckey offered Big Ben #3, Ben turned him down.

2. A player can switch numbers if he's giving up to a new player on the team.

3. I don't know if I like 0. Isn't that Hoopers number?
