Now we know smith has yet to be picked for an all star game and there is some debate why that hasant happend yet.So who on the team between our bigs smith, monroe, dre will become an all star 1st.Can smith finally get over the hump and get there, will monroe improve enough to get there, will dre have that break out year where he will be seen as a star big and get there,so what are your thoughts.

Now this is really dependent on if those 3 guys are actually on the pistons for the next few years, just have fun no need to get to technical.

It's either Smith or Drummond.

I don't see anyone on this team making the all-star team outside of Drummond.

I agree with berg,I could really see smith having a good year with the change of scenary and if dre comes out of the gate hot,well....The only issue with monroe is the defense,if he can get his help side and man to man better,he will make it eventualy.

Really, theres debate weather smith should already have one under his belt.

Drummond. I doubt that Smith will get any better as a Piston but hopefully he proves me wrong.

I'd say Monroe is closest. He just needs to have a really solid first half. He absolutely should have made it year before last--at the break he was averaging near 18/10 and was like 5th in the league in PER-- and his rep is at a good place. Drummond would have to put up huge stats to make it this year because he's new to the league, and Smith's been around and people know his weaknesses, so he would have to out perform his last couple of years statistically (which isn't likely within our offense).

The other factor is, if we're playing really well-- like top 6 seed-- at the break, they'll want to give us an all star. Happens almost every year. They'd probably just pick the guy who's putting up the best stats at the time.

With the center position being eliminated from the all star ballot, I wouldn't bet on either Drummond or Monroe getting in anytime soon. Smith hasn't exactly been all star favorite either.

does it matter?? Iverson was our last all star. It means nothing to me as long as the team is winning

Monroe should've been an all star 2 seasons ago but he got robbed so the real question is who cares?

Defense doesn't matter in the All-Star. I think Lopez made it once. What does that say? I don't know. It's all about offense and how good you look in front of the fans. It's a popularity contest.

ok for the sake of the game... I'll go with Smith

Monroe is the most likely to have a boost in scoring and assists but his rebounding may drop and Drummond won't put up the pure numbers that are usually important to the All Star game.
Smith has been close in previous years and he'll get time at both SF and PF to boost his scoring and rebounding.

Smith won't score enough to be considered an all-star. It will be even harder for him now that he has moved to the SF spot. I don't see that happening anymore,

Monroe is the most likely to get voted in by Coaches (they pick the reserves, don't they?) so I'll pick him

A good case could be made for all 3.

smith. if we play well enough to be around that 6th seed then itll be because of him. drummonds a great chance in a few seasons, but not yet. monroe is most likely to lead this team in scoring, and that would give him a great chance. all 3 have a good chance, dont know that any will any time soon.

Drummond will take this league by storm. 15/15/2/2/3 by his 3rd year.

Good topic!

If we make big strides forward this year Josh Smith is going to be given a lot of credit even if its largely due to the internal improvement of Knight, Moose, and Drummond.

I do think Monroe has the best shot if he is a 18 and 10 guy and we are around .500 its his. Coaches don't seem to value defense as much in voting for all-star games... I think Drummond would have to average about 12, 12 and 3 blocks per game to have a legitimate chance... and Smith has just barely missed out a few times as well. All 3 could be borderline all-stars which is great.... but we'd have to be winning for anyone to get recognized.

East Starters as voted by the fans will likely be.

FC:Lebron
FC:Melo
FC:KG (even if he doesn't have a huge impact he gets it by namesake and the move to Brooklyn)

That probably leaves 4 more "front court" players to come off the bench.... Chris Bosh is probably a lock to make it and then the rest will be between Chandler, Pierce, Noah, Boozer, West, Hibbert, Amare, Smith, Monroe, Drummond, Lopez, Bynum (if healthy)... Really a ton of guys going for just 3 open spots.
