Portland/Detroit trade

Blazers trade
Lamarcus Aldridge

Pistons trade
Greg Monroe
Charlie Vilanueva

This deal could be tweaked with other fillers. The basic idea is that Drummond, Josh Smith, and Monroe are all best in the paint. LMA can open the middle with his killer pick and pop, elbow jumper.

Many fans talked about LMA leaving in two years, but the Pistons face the same problem with Monroe. LMA is in bis prime, but his game doesnt rely on athleticism, so he has a lot of years to play at an All-star level.

I like LMA, but it doesn't make sense for Detroit any longer.

How about Monroe and CV for Lillard and Batum?

No thanks. I love Aldridge, but he doesn't fix any of the potential issues we have in our front court. Ill take the younger better passer at this point. I would want Batum AND Aldridge for Monroe/Jonas/Stuckey/CV but Portland won't unless they believe they can land a top 3 pick in 2014.

Aldridge is the only guy mentioned lately that makes sense and the value is there.

I'm against trading Monroe, but I wouldn't have a problem if Joe pulled the trigger on this.

This is a lie.

He is too old to go with Drummond. Monroe will be at his prime at the same time Drummond is at his prime and Monroe also play at an All-star level and will still improve.

I think once moose gets a much better mid range shot he will be just as good as LMA, there is no point in doing this trade.

I'd prefer we keep our real talent - Smith, Monroe, Drummond, and likely KCP. If we want to trade anyone else, sure.

I think it's an equal trade and LMA will help us get a better chance of making the playoffs this year, but I'll keep Moose for now. See what he can do with Dre and Smith first.

Considering the age, and the fact that we can match any offer Moose signs, I'd rather keep Moose. That said, if we could flip him for Lillard, I'd definitely do that.

You guys act like LMA is 40. I get it though. The Blazers were in a similiar situation a few years ago. When they had their young trio of Oden, Roy, and LMA we fans also rejected ideas like Paul Pierce and Nowitski for our up and coming potential. Time will tell. But I think the addition of Josh Smith says the Pistons want to win now. Smith is much more reliant on athleticism than LMA. LMA will be a contributor long after Smith turns into Gerald Wallace.

Also, taking on bloated contracts like CV is negative value for the Blazers.

Just to weigh in on comments about Lilliard. He's probably the only untouchable player on their roster. The Blazers have been looking for a PG for a decade. He's not going anywhere.

Finally, Batum could be up for discussion, but LMA and Batum is going to be a major package. Batum isnt just a throw in to convince teams to "settle" for a repeat All Star.

CV is an expiring contract, he in no way is negative value

If I knew for sure that LMA wanted to be here, then I'd make this trade. I don't think that our roster is as unbalanced as people are making it out to be, but this does help our spacing and LMA is the better player. In close end of game scenarios a Smith/LMA front court would be really effective.

I also think this makes sense for Portland, mostly because it sounds like Aldridge is ready to move on. I'm sure Monroe will reach LMA's level, but he is probably the best young player that Portland could get and fits in excellently with their core.

I guess I'm in the minority though.

We did not give up Greg Monroe to sign Josh Smith. LMA is almost 10 years older than our franchise player while Monroe is 2-3 years older. Like I said, Monroe and Drummond will be at their prime at the same time. I don't understand what's so difficult to understand here.

i wouldnt be against this trade, its probably fairly sideways between the two, maybe LMA has the slight edge. the difference is that with any trade like that, it could potentially upset the chemistry. I know LMA is a great guy, and likely would fit in great, but we already know monroe and drummond do, so maybe dre doesnt take to LMA aswell and it screws it up.. i doubt it, but that would be why you would have reservations making a trade like this.

Portland fans were laughing at a Greg Monroe/Stuckey for Aldridge Swap on the General Board, and then they come on our board and propose pretty much the same trade???
I probably wouldn't do it, just because of the age difference between Drummond and Aldridge.

If Portland added something to sweeten the deal, I'd do it. Only reason being the age difference. But LA is a hell of a talent.

I'd be interested in a trade with the Blazers, but not for Aldridge.

Count me among the many Batum fans :-)

Just like our board or any other team board... fans have differing opinions on what they consider a fair trade for their team. Some here would hate to trade any of our young players and others like to explore trade ideas.

To lump a team's fans in to a borg/hive mentality is rather disingenuous IMO. Is what it is.
