Greg Monroe Trade Value?

With Drummond as the center of the future and the big Josh Smith contract the conversation (at least outside of Detroit) seems to be that Monroe could possibly get moved. This is the last year of his rookie deal.

What are the chances you think he'd get moved? And what value do you realistically think he would net in return.

Personally I like his passing and vision for a big guy and like how he could fit in Denver with Lawson as the team transitions to being more than just run & gun.

None of our frontcourt players are getting moved until we see how they play. Dumars said that. I think there is very little chance Monroe gets traded.

I also read that Dumars said he was open for trades... so he is basically saying everything...

Just because he's open to trades doesn't mean he's willing to trade our best players. He also said Drummond is untouchable. I think at this point he is looking for smaller deals to bolster the bench or backcourt.

Faried has another year on the rookie deal so I wouldn't be shocked if the Nuggets where calling at some point.

Are you suggesting a Faried for Monroe swap? First of all, that doesn't improve our situation whatsoever. Faried is actually a worse shooter than Monroe. Second, Monroe is the better player and I doubt Dumars is interested in downgrading.

Id say there is a 5-10% chance that Greg gets moved and if he does it would only be in a package for a star level player.

A Smith-Monroe-Drummond front line might be the best in the league, or, maybe not. I certainly want to see it happen and see how good they can be before we even think of trading.

That being said, Monroe is a top 10 center in this league, even if we are playing him at PF. And he is young, so that is all very positive. The only negative is that he is about to get a max or near max contract.

I don't think he would get us an unprotected lottery pick next year - every team that has a lottery pick will want to take their chance at Wiggins.

There is also the big for small issue.

I would want a young all star that plays the 1,2 or 3. I just don't see that happening. Too risky for both GMs involved.

Watching him at the usa scrimage, reminded me how good of a passer he is and how he gets to the rim.If he gets that midrange down he will be top 3 PF and very valuable.Cant wait for the season to start to see dre, moose, smith in action,ITS KILLING MEEEEEEE!!

We aren't trading Armagreggon (you read it here first) until we've implicitly determined that the trio of Armagreggon, Drummond and Smith won't work against the elite teams of the EC.

In that event, Dumars will look to move him for another young blue chipper that definitively fills the SF or PG position, or a stop gap type player and a lottery pick in the 2014 draft.

I think there is a 20-30% chance of him getting traded. However, I think Dumars will wait some time before making an irrational decision. I don't know who would trade Monroe. He's really good. With that said, if we were to trade him, I would trade him for an All-Star caliber PG or SF. Someone like Rondo or George. Someone like Lillard or Rubio. I think those trades would be fair as not only would you be trading a big for a small but the talent level is similar.

Considering we still have Rodney Stuckey on the roster after all these years of him, where he resides in a plateau, I can't imagine Dumars would make a quick decision on Monroe, a guy you actually want on your team.

A Denver trade might be difficult, maybe some sort of Chandler, Faried and Hamilton for Monroe, Jerebko and Singler deal could work. Denver has depth and we need it, while we wouldn't be getting back the all-star we would like to for Moose I think this deal makes our team better right away by trading 1 rotation worthy player for at least 2 and I like Hamiltons upside as well.

Drummond-Smith-Chandler-KCP-Knight
Bench: Faried-CV-Datome-Stuckey-Billups-Hamilton-Bynum-Middleton-Kravtsov-Mitchell

I don't think we would lose much offense in the starting line-up considering Chandler can spread the floor and the defense gets a lot better, Faried and CV would be a good pairing off the bench too. Unless you have LeBron you're only as good as your weakest link in the rotation, come playoff time anyway. Maybe they throw in their 2014 #1 as well IDK.

Oh IDK, Denver has a lot of assets. I'm also looking at it from the new CBA standpoint. I figured with the Smith contract the writing was on the wall. Monroe is going to get paid big-time somewhere next summer. Plus Drummond will get a big contract if he continues to improve.

With Denver the Memphis trade and JJ Hickson signing signals to me that Faried might get moved.

Yep I'm suggesting those would be two key pieces in a trade. Faried has another year on his rookie contract after this and should cost significantly less to re-sign than Monroe. Exactly what the deal would be I'm not sure. The Nuggets also have a trade exception so it could be some sort of 3 team trade. And while I prefer these sort of deals to be done in the off-season... waiting does give the Nuggets time for Gallo to heal up and get back out there.
