Andre Drummond's Weight

I think this merits its own subject because Andre Drummond is HUGE.

Interesting Stat.

Shaquille ONeal Juinior at LSU listed weight: 294 lbs

Andre Drummond's current rumored weight: 298 lbs

And another note. At team USA's camp this year, Drummonds upper body looked massive. When he came into the league last year, it wasn't nearly that big, in fact, Monroe may have had larger arms.

I heard right from his mouth that he was 279 and feels great at that weight. It was in a recent interview. Maybe summer league.

Keith Langlois said recently Drummond is closer to 300 lbs. He was 279 at the combine before he was drafted. Theres no way hes the same weight now. I think in the spur of the interview Dre just agreed with them because they were indicating he would have to loose wight from the 279 he was listed as when in fact he ways more than that.

(Confusing post) I know.

Because nobody ever lies about their weight :)

Whether he's 280 or 320, I don't care I saw how he looked in those Team USA scrimmages, and anybody who can move like that can weight whatever they want. Q. What does an 800 lb gorilla do? A. Whatever he wants to.

Stats on height and weight are often incorrect. Why? I've no clue.

Drummond is one of the fastest, if not THE fastest players 6'10 or more. If his game will continue to be predicated on speed and athleticism, he may want to cut more weight if he's still around 280, to reduce the weight on his knees and back.

Perhaps, but the good thing is he has tree trunk legs that should lessen the strain considerably. If he is at 5% body fat which was reported by Pistons.com recently, then he will basically have to lose muscle to lose weight.

Weight is weight. Your knees and adjoined cartilage don't discriminate if it's from fat or muscle.

Having bigger legs spreads out the force on a jump however, which puts less force on your knees.

I highly, highly doubt he is under 9% body fat. He would literally collapse from the exhaustion from the lack of energy.

I'm not a human anatomy expert but at the draft combine his body fat % was 7.5.

I wonder how they measured it, because it'd be ridiculous judging from the chart I posted. Granted, the chart isn't anything completely scientific, but it's usually a good indicator of body fat that often gets brought up in fitness forums. Dre looks nothing like the ones in the 7% range. I mean even LeBron and Wade have like 10-13% body fat and they look massive while looking lean.

Honest question, would the fact that hes 6"10 and the guys in those photos are probably in the 5"10-6"2 range have any effect on the way his body would look any different? By those photos he looks to be between 15-20 percent range.

Yeah I don't his body fat percentage is that high. A lot of it has to do with his massive frame.

Ohh and here's a link from a few weeks ago.
http://www.pistonpowered.com/2013/07/br ... e-percent/

But despite this source, I'm with you. He does not look like he's at 5% body fat... He looks like he has far more...

It depends on how they measured his body fat %. My guess is that they used calipers which can be like 4-6% off if I remember correctly. You also have to factor in muscle mass and things like that so using that chart is not a good way to determine body fat %. 9% is not out of the question at all though. That's very reasonable. I'm always skeptical when players have around 5% body fat though. That is getting close to professional bodybuilder % during competition.

Yeah, for a guy having only 5% fat when he's that size would only serve as a detriment for Dre. 5% even at his size is ridiculous and would still look more or less as the photo I posted.

Daniel (London, England): I saw some comments saying Drummond is an undersized center. I’ve read he is currently around 300 pounds. Isn’t that overweight for a 6-foot-10 center?

Langlois: Official heights and weights are a mysterious thing, Daniel. Drummond measured at the Chicago draft combine in May 2012 at 6-foot-11¾ in shoes (the commonly accepted NBA standard for official heights) and 279 pounds with 7.5 percent body fat. That was before he was introduced to Arnie Kander, started eating more consciously and began lifting weights for the first time in his life. He played last season at around 295 pounds and his body fat is now in the 5 percent to 6 percent range. And he just turned 20! Andre Drummond is as big a genetic freak of nature as Ben Wallace and Dennis Rodman. If he’s an undersized center, there are approximately 29 other NBA teams that would love to sign up for one of those.
