Realistic aspirations five years from now

I say we could land some more talent and be right there in the mix. The heat, spurs, nets are on their potential last legs. We need seasoning but we are on the up and up in a very hopeful way. Ecf six straight years no but hunting for a title like the warriors clips okc pacers bulls sounds about right.

One of three places: contending for a title, being first round fodder, or back in the lottery.

Five years from now, who knows? Nobody currently under contract is guaranteed to be here in five years.

Hopefully Drummond becomes the second coming of Shaq and Monroe the next Duncan, lol.

I can't see Monroe becoming any better. I really don't see what everyone else does in his game.

by Dre Drummond
So impossible to tell whether or not we're going to be able to get back to the finals or not... A lot depends on FA these next two years... so many elite players who may or may not team up with other elite players... I know for a fact if we keep Dre, Monroe, and Smith we're at least a playoff team the next 4 years... and with internal improvements we should be a team that makes the second round a few times too.... but to get past that into the conference finals is a huge step forward that we would really need Drummond to become a dominant big man like Mutumbo or Mourning.

5 years from now? I'm HIGHLY disappointed if we aren't a championship level team.

10 years from now? I'm very disappointed if we haven't won a couple championships and aren't thinking, "Man what a great great run, --- wish this could last longer."

I think, along with Cleveland, that our franchise is best set up to become an elite team. Drummond has top 3 player in the league potential. Monroe has all-star PF potential. Personally, I think KCP could become one of the top SG's in the league. I'm not sure of Jennings, but he has the potential to be one of the better PG's in the league. And we're loaded up with good young players on good moveable contracts, plus the two expiring contracts. (Datome and Singler could each become sensational role players). So we've got tons of flexibility moving forward.

Projecting forward 5 years, 10 years, is extremely speculative, of course. But we do have incredible potential on this team.

He can't really change his athleticism a lot, at least, probably not dramatically.

But, he can improve his 17-foot jump shot. He can also improve his defensive positioning. He's never going to be Dwight Howard, skying for blocked shots out of nowhere. But, he can be in the right place at the right time. He has quick hands, which is why he's pretty adept at stealing the ball.

He has good footwork on offense. Dumars called him out in his Grantland interview, because he said if you have good footwork on one end, it should be there on the other end as well. Greg just needs to put effort into it.

I believe his defense will improve this year, if it really is an effort thing, because he won't have to carry the team offensively anymore.

So, that's why I believe he can still improve a great deal. He doesn't have a lot of holes in his game. He needs more range, and better defense. That's really all it is.

That's a tall order, sir.

Just making it to the finals usually involves having a very talented, well built team, and even then they usually get a handful of lucky breaks. Whether that be another contender having a star player injured, or just lucky breaks in the game.

I could make a list of examples, but every season if rife with them. Russell Westbrook getting injured aided San Antonio's post season run. If Danny Granger wasn't hurt, he may have swung the series against the Heat, etc.

I think being a contender is what you have to hope for, and then the team catches some breaks along the line.

FYI. Greg Monroe is 23 years old. I never heard of anyone reaching their peak by 23 and that is as good as your going to get. Especially, from a player that is a gym rat in the off season. Players work on their game especially when they are still on their rookie contract looking for their long term contract. I expect a great year from Monroe where he steps it up from last season. That may not be reflected in the scoring Stats or Rebounds because Smith and Drumroe are there, but I guarantee he will be a better all around player than last season.

Greg Monroe Gonna Prove Ya'll Wrong!!!! 8-)

I cant decipher if youre saying now the Heat, Spurs & Nets are on their last legs or in 5 yrs. If youre talking now, The Heat arent on their last leg, Lebron is 28, Bosh is 29. They still have quite a while of dominance left.

5 year aspirations are really simple, Drummond has to reach his ceiling.

Fortunately, Monroe is a far cry from Tyrus Thomas.

I don't think he was.

You can probably name countless other busts to disprove BMP statemate about players peaking.

I expect us to be an elite team.

A championship team takes a bit of luck to win it all. But getting to the ECF every year is where I expect us to be.
