Should Detroit trade CV, JJ for Derrick Williams it would add shooting and speed and get rid of a bad contract

Easily but I doubt Minny would be interested.

Why not?

Im not sure if minny will do this, but I know Williams has been a dissapointment for them. Cvill and JJ may be better for them. Cvill can emulate what Love does on the perimeter to an extent. He also is a better rebounder than Williams. It could work for them. JJ is also a bonus; We all know every white man is worth more in Minny.

Getter done!

Does Minny have all that extra cap space? CV and JJ combine to make $13 million this year. Derrick makes whatever he makes late in the rookie contract. Less than half of that easily.

And we take a flier on Derrick because our 2 trade chips have no value at best. I mean they both could have negative value. Minny wouldn't touch it if they could.

good point. Maybe Cvill for Derrick would work then.

Minnesota seems to believe Williams is worth more than that offering. They still value him like a #2 pick in the draft, for some stubborn reason.

I just don't think Minny would go after that deal. Also, would Detroit? Williams is a tweener through and through, except he really doesn't have a reliable jump shot. Detroit already has Josh Smith for the next 4 years. Where is DW going to find any real playing time?

Ultimately, Detroit probably says no as well as Minnesota.

Williams has been a bust since being drafted. He will always be a bust, but maybe grow into a player capable of holding his own off the bench.

THis trade is simply about changing it up. Cvill would be something different for them. However, Minny could look at several offers that could be potentially better than Cvill.

Tons of Minnesota rumors flooded out before the draft, that they would use Williams to trade up in the draft to get McLemore or KCP. So, by their logic, they feel he's good enough to grab a lottery pick when paired with their own.

I don't think highly of Williams, I don't think he's worth his salary. I honestly don't even see how many would view him as much of an upgrade over Jerebko, if any.

They better keep that dude then. I watched that man play last year on several occasions. Dude is too small to play PF and too slow to play SF. He is an absolute liability on the floor. ITs tough for people like that to stay in the NBA, unless they are elite in another area. Right now he is not elite in any area. In fact, he is not above average in any category we could argue. The man better find his niche soon.

Agreed.

I quit. I will no longer try to sell this fat and lazy piece of garbage onto any other team. He is Joe's problem, until he clears the books. Joe this is your fault.

A team looking to carve out a large chunk of cap space, or tanking for the draft will certainly find value in him. But, his contributions on the court are a joke. He can spread the floor on offense, that's all you can rely on him for.

Hands DOWN I'd do that trade. But no way Minny will do it though.

If Flip Saunders offered Joe D this deal he'd be all:
