Bos Det trade idea

I feel like we need better depth at the 2 and 3, and I like the idea of a third true big. I say we move Stuckey, Villanueva, Jarebko, and Singler for Humphries, Jeff Green, and Courtney Lee. The main enticement for Boston is the Cap Space, and trading chips for the season, a couple of slightly younger replacements. Stuckey would be the second best guard on Boston, they need scoring from charlie v. They drafted two centers, and have brandon bass
maybe in tank mode before the first 15 games. We would still have enough money around to extend Monroe.
We get courtney lee to push KCP for two yrs, and jeff green gives us a proven quality 3, with Humphries we can always be big at all times if we want to. All are solid two way players that to me fit the strengths most of the roster has. Size, Athleticism, and defense.

Guards are Jennings, Pope, Billups, Lee, Bynum, and Siva

SF - J green , Datome
3/4 J Smith, T Mitchell
4/5 Drummond, Monroe, Humphries

can we play one damn game with this team before we get another trade topic? If its not a no brainer trade no one is going to advocate for pulling the trigger on a configuration that hasn't even been tested.

We're basically giving up a box of jock straps for a good young player in Green. Boston hangs up.

Wait, not that this trade would happen, but Humphries is the part that kills it for you? Dude is a $12 million expiring that actually plays hard and rebounds. Thats odd.

Humphries is stupid. He can rebound, but his IQ is super low.
I'd rather not have that problem.

CV and stuckey aren't exactly the smartest guys, but CV's range could be useful and Stuckey could be helpful given our SG situation.

Come on, man, it's nowhere close to fair to call that trolling. CV is one of the worst contracts in the league, Stuck was extremely disappointing last year and Jerebko is regarded as slightly overpaid and slightly below average. There's no reason those guys should fetch real assets in the NBA. They have value as expirings, but a team has to have major incentive to trade assets for cap space. Expirings don't usually fetch good value, we've covered this plenty of times on this board.

And to the OP, this trade involves the Celtics trading their 2nd best player, who's entering his prime, for players who will have no impact on the team. Rebuilding teams try to keep relatively young assets and get rid of their older players or their players who are likely to bolt via FA. Green is neither, and there's not much outside incentive to trade him. Lee has some value and Hump is himself an expiring. Not a good trade for them.

So Stuckey, CV and Jerebko aren't actually NBA players?? i'm not saying Expirings are worth their weight in goal like a lot of posters believe, but why come into the detroit forum just to insult our players?
I call troll.

This sentence right here is very important. I don't think any team actually wants a guy like Villanueva for another 3 years. If we move him, it will be purely because someone wants his expiring. In this trade, we give up two expirings plus Singler, and JJ who will expire next year if I'm not mistaken.

OOC how exactly does Humphries ($12mil expiring) kill our cap space?

Whoops. I thought Hump had signed 4 year extension with the Nets, not 2. Mistake admitted.

^yeah, I was thinking Hump had a couple years left on his deal as well. with him being an expiring Boston doesn't have any incentive at all to make that deal, that would basically be trading Green for Singler and JJs contract with 2 years remaining instead of Lee's 3. they're saving money on Greens deal, but he's not a bad contract at this point.

a JJ or Stuck for Lee deal could probably work for both teams, but I don't see Boston giving away Green after the way he finished last year.

Oh the irony of this statement, especially since you wouldn't want Humphries who is an expiring role playing big. I know I know, teams could use Charlie V's range. Its not like they could do the same with Humphries' rebounding and dirty work.

given our frontcourt needs, CV could actually help. Humphries does something that Smith, Drummond and Monroe do.
Why is it so hard to see? i explained my opinion in the first post.
