thoughts?

I like it, he has history coaching with cheeks which is always good. Its also good to have another coach on the staff with winning experience in the nba.

Rasheed Wallace and Bernard Smith are player development coaches, while the hirings of advance scout Kamran Sufi and video coordinator Raman Sposato also were announced today.

Does this mean Sheed won't be on the bench? Won't travel to all the games etc?

Man would that be a mistake,I understand him having a hard time keeping his mouth shut when it comes to officals,but he is a great team and player motivator.He brings a great mix of seriousness and goofyness that keeps players on even keils.

I like that he's coming from Lionel Hollins' coaching staff. Hopefully he bring additional defensive experience to this team.

Former teammates in Philly. What is Bobby Jones doing? Just to bring him in for training camp could have an impact.

Thats what i am hoping. Does anyone know if Bibby was in charge of Memphis defense last season? I mean the Grizz allowed just 90 ppg, they obviously had the personal to play some pretty good defense but a really good assistant coach can make a difference on defense...see Thibodeau in Boston/Chicago.

Nope. Joerger (Assistant to Hollins) was the heart and soul of Memphis' defense. Now he's the head coach.

No idea about Bibby. The only Bibby I know is the washed up one which I just found out is Henry's son.

So Mo is surrounding himself with old pals, great. This coaching staff is still the biggest question mark imo. I still dont understand why Dumars went with Cheeks when other really quality coaches were available. I dont trust Mo and his guys at all, but Sheed is a feel good story for sure.
So far i ve read Cheeks wants to run more, but nothing else with substance about offense or defense at all.

Literally no one. Nobody wanted to coach a small team that was pretty much on rebuild mode and fires coaches after every few years.

Before people shout back Karl, Hollins, and Shaw, they're overrated.

-Karl is a known strict and rigid coach who wants his players to act like parts in an engine. We saw him get straight out-coached by Mark Jackson in the playoffs because he wasn't able to adapt and change frequently.
-Hollins is more of a developmental coach and a player coach similar to how we have Cheeks now. Joerger was the reason why they were so successful in turning Memphis around
-Shaw is unproven, plain and simple, and probably wants to run the Triangle, which takes a few years for players to adjust.

The only darkhorse candidate was probably Budenholzer from the Spurs, but even he went to a playoff team as well which is the Hawks.

Now had we made the moves and then hire a coach, maybe we could've attracted some bigger names, but as it stands, getting Cheeks to develop our guys first isn't a bad idea.
