Hadn't seen this posted yet, but Grantland has a great article up on Dre: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9827138/the-life-career-detroit-pistons-center-andre-drummond

Talks about where he came from, growing up, family life, and his basketball career. Awesome read.

Some quotes:

Calhoun joked that he might still be coaching had Drummond stuck around another year or two at UConn. "He made great strides from the time he left St. Thomas More to the year here," Calhoun said. "So why wouldn't I believe if he's going to do it full-time, he wouldn't make even greater strides? I care about all of my kids. But they all aren't as easy to talk to as Andre in the sense that he doesn't have any pretenses about how he is. He's starting to, which is good. He's starting to believe that he can be really good, which is a real positive for him."

Drummond now trains with Milicic's former teammate and new Pistons assistant coach Rasheed Wallace, who is helping him develop his low-post game. "It's not a B.S. session," Dumars said. "It is physical, hard work for hours out there on the court. That's the only way that you can get better as a young player. You just have to put the work in, and he's doing it."

"He's always asking questions," Cheeks said. "Even before practice, he'll come in and see me and we'll talk about certain things that he can do to get better at. I think he has some knowledge in terms of where he wants to get to in terms of his ability. Most guys like that can reach another level — he has that ability."

This is very encouraging to read. I like that Joe said that it wasn't just a B.S. session, but real honest work.

The only thing that can stop Drummond from becoming a monster on the court, and a Piston fan favorite, is himself, and it would seem he is being proactive.

I love it.

I had to stop reading the articule and post, this articule makes me love dre even more,it explains so much about his personality and I love the way this kid is sooo grounded. It really speaks to his true charcter when he decided to take out college loans then let his friend (who was also going to uconn) turn down his schlorship so dre could take it because uconn only had so many schlorships and there wasant 1 left for dre,dre said he wouldnt take it because he knew the kid and knew how hard he had to work for it,WOW.Not only is dre a special breed of center.but a new breed of charcter that the nba hasant seen in a long time..

Dre is easily one of the most likeable guys in the NBA. He truly loves the game and you can see he has fun playing it, but he takes it very seriously as well. You can see it from the look in his eyes during games.

I was surprised to read him say he was 'the dog off the bench' last year. Sounds like he really didn't like Frank not starting him. He's right though. He deserved to start.
