Grantland League Pass Rankings (Pistons 6th)

Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe ranked every team's watchability, and the Pistons came in 6th in the entire league. Both Zach and Bill awarded each NBA team between 0 and 10 points in the following five admittedly goofy categories:
-Relevancy to the Playoff Picture (Philly is a 0, Miami is a 10)
-Stylistic/Systemic Appeal (Lob City, Defensive Clinic, Giant lineup or small ball line)
-League Pass Experience (quality of announcing teams (and how often you might have to hit the mute button during their games), sideline reporters, uniform colors, the home arena's floor and, especially, the mascots).
-Individual Player Appeal (KD, Lebron, Steph Curry... Drummond etc.)
-Unintentional Comedy/Irrational Affection/Personality Intangibles (Javale, Boogie Cousins, Jennings and Josh Smith pairing, etc.)
Bill: Let's face it — the Pistons already won this season. Look at this ranking, Zach! Look at it! Get up! (Everybody's gonna move their feet.) Get down! (Everybody's gonna leave their seat.) You gotta lose your mind in Dee-troit Rock City!!!

Cool article. Interesting to see that Bill had us ranked 3rd behind only the Clippers and Warriors.
Plus, they've done they've done 30-15 in the Grantland Power Rankings and Detroit still haven't come up, I think Bill is really buying into us.

Bill has been pretty nice to our team so far. I think a lot has to do with the fact that he covets Dre. Otherwise, I think our team really is more likable and watchable. Here's to the playoffs.

Simmons likes us for the five seed.

They like the Pistons for their upside and down side, as they see a Jennings & Smith implosion as great entertainment too.
Overall, it's just entertainment writing. Simmons and Lowe are a solid tandem.

Yep he has us as 12th. Saw this trick on r/nba, but if you go on the grantland site, you can change the html code to not hide the remaining teams haha.

Haha Dallas was just uploaded as #14, in the column he said the Nuggets were #13 and now we're at #12, I don't want to ruin the rest!

Makes sense, even if it is silly. This team will be interesting at the least and should be competitive. Between the crazy athleticism, bad shot selection and some alpha personalities, we shouldn't have many dull games.

I think the Pistons will be very watchable (mainly because of Drummond), and I have them scraping into the playoffs (or just missing out). But these two oversell the Pistons a lot. Beating the Knicks seems a pipe dream given how they played last year, and they basically gloss over the fact Drummond, Smith and Monroe can't play together easily. They even looked at the shot chart showing how Smith was only efficient at close range... same as their analysis of Monroe. So how do those two fit next to Drummond? But I guess we'll see for ourselves soon enough.

Bill is buying in for now but I have complete faith that if we start slow we are going to hear weekly how great a deal Monroe and Stuckey for Gerald Wallace and Jordan Crawford would be.
