So Shannon Brown and Kendall Marshall will be waived...

Post#1 » by Kilo » Sat Oct 26, 2013 12:42 am

Are they better than Bynum or Siva? Probably not worth making a move at this stage, though I assume both will get picked up by teams with open roster spots.

Also I wonder if the Gorcat move was made in part because of our front court and the fact both Washington and Detroit will be battling it out for the 6-8 seeds.

I believe that move was made because of Detroit. The league is starting to take notice, that Detroit has a massive front-court, in this era of small-ball.

I really believe that if this team gels properly, and all our starters are as good as they should be, the Pistons could be a force for a very long time. We have trade assests as well, and it could round out our bench and then we go into full beast mode.

From what I read from the Suns fans across the net, Marshall is a bum and Brown is just for show. Brown should honestly go back to the Lakers. Get the band back together.

I actually like a bit of Bynum ball but anything longer than that is a no go for sure. Siva will develop into a quality backup or maybe even a serviceable starter.

Man. That's disappointing. Peyton Siva is probably better than Stuckey already. He knows how to pass and not dribble like a down's syndrome baby.

doooooooooonnnnnnnt even think about it. makes washington more dangerous for sure though. i was thinking with okafor battling injuries that they would be one to drop(one of cle, was and det are going to be a massive disappointment - it just works that way.) which would make it easier for us, but now im not sure so sure.. gortat is never going to be a superstar/all-star, but hes solid, and will help them a lot.

This trade was done to increase talent, not because Detroit has a big front court.

And there isn't any place for Brown or Marshall on our team. We added at least two starters, and we're trying to develop guys while shooting for the playoffs. Minutes will be hard to come by especially since we haven't figured out how to work the core pieces yet.

I liked Marshall coming out of college, and if we didn't already have 5 point guards on the roster I wouldn't mind giving him a shot. I still think he could be a solid PG with the right talent around him.

This board is super predictable. Player gets cut. Thread gets made in their favor. Rinse.......repeat.

^hey, when your poor on talent sometimes you have to garbage pick, and this teams been damn near homeless the last few years. it is kind of funny that we're always ready to jump on anybody that gets cut like a pack of hungry piranhas, hopefully pretty soon we're the ones releasing guys that other teams want to bring in.

At least there wasn't a "Bring in Royce White" thread.

At this point, they would have to pay somebody to leave if they wanted to create a roster spot, unless Jorts' deal is still unguaranteed?

Either way, Marshall has been an epic flop since coming to the NBA, and there isn't a role for Shannon Brown that would allow him to make any more of an impact than anyone on the current roster. If Shannon Brown is playing 20+ minutes for your team, you're probably a lottery team.

Shannon Brown should rejoin the Lakers. Detroit doesn't need him. If any other team, I would say Charlotte just so they wouldn't have to use Ben Gordon.

Kendall Marshall needs to join the D-League for a year, but I think some team will sign him. Crazy to think he was a 1st round pick a year ago.

It would be fun to have Shannon on our team. He was great when he wasn't asked to do too much in Los Angeles. He was a respectable floor spreader in LA. Not so much in PHX...but the Suns were a mess. Unfortunately, we have no means of nabbing him.

I think it's crazy that first rounders the one year now to make it. What's wrong with Marshall? Is there an attitude issue? I mean Fab Melo is lazy and Royce has his issues - what's the story with Marshall? The talent to go in the middle first doesn't just disappear in one poor rookie season.

He can't score and he's not athletic. Suns were just desparate to pick the heir to Nash.

I thought Marshall was a pretty good playmaker though, wasn't he?

You don't always need to score or be athletic to run an offense. Roy Williams' coached PGs have had pretty good success in the league lately with Lawson and Felton. I could see Marshall developing into something. Danny Green is another UNC guard that bloomed late too. I think Phoenix ends up regretting this move.

Absolutely not to Marshall, I'm higher on Siva. Brown would be interesting, he'd add more athleticism and someone that can spread the floor. I'd definitely take Brown over Stuckey at this point but with Stuckey on the team, won't happen.
