Las Vegas has the over under at 40.5 wins.

Right now if you bet over that number the payout is -105 which means that more people are betting under.

I was thinking about betting 1000 on the over. It sure would make the season fun to watch.

That's funny. I picked them for 39 wins this season. Looks like Vegas agrees with me.

I would do that bet. I think its a good pick.

I'd definitely take the over on that one. I think this team we've seen in the preseason is capable of being a .500 team as is (without Jennings/Stuckey). Once we add them to the mix, I think Jennings in particular is going to elevate us from a .500 team into a 45-50 win team.

In a way, maybe him being out preseason was a positive thing as we were able to integrate each separately, instead of trying to fit both in at the same time. Sometimes its easier that way, especially when you have two players used to being ball-dominant, and you're trying to teach them a team system. Doing it one at a time can be more effective.

*I wouldn't bet $1000 btw. I don't like season long bets though, too many risks involved due to injuries and stuff. One injury could take us from 45 wins to 30 wins. So you are basically betting on health as much as talent with the season bets. I prefer just betting on indiviual games, where you know exactly who's playing, and the Pistons should be a good bet most nights this season. They are likely to be underdogs a lot in the spread, and have the ability to upset a lot of teams that don't yet take them seriously.

General rule for betting: The more volatile the results, the riskier the bet.

There aren't many teams with a bigger reasonable range of wins than the Pistons. 30 wouldn't shock me. 50 wouldn't shock me. The fact that the line is right in the middle is a huge STAY THE HELL AWAY sign as far as betting is concerned.

This is absolutely correct. Better to choose a team with a very high ceiling in the 25-30 range or a team that could be decimated by injuries in the 50+range.

But if you want to throw down some extra cash and make the season more exciting, go for it!

1k wins you 1k or 2 k total.

East may be strong for the playoffs, but the Regular season is a different matter. Pistons should be over 41 easily.

Well the problem with your logic is that its volatile to you. I would be very surprised if we only won 30. Too much talent and too many teams tanking. I personally think 41 is the floor unless we get a huge rash of injuries.

There's no problem with my logic. You just disagree, which is fine. Last I checked, anyone can get hurt, and factoring the positive or negative effects of injuries around the league is part of betting. The Pistons do have a relatively injury-free roster in terms of history, but there's still Andre's back, Jennings' weak chin, Billups' age, and Datome's knee, and that's just pre-existing things.

Bet the over, then. I'm rooting for it, certainly, but it's not something I'm at all comfortable putting real money on.

If I knew for certain the roster would remain the same as well as the starting frontcourt I would bet the under all day, I really don't like how this team looks right now.
